I am a little concerned with the lack of adjustment, but how do you adjust stupid?
- funmaster18

One, you switch up a 2nd PP unit that has largely been ineffective for much longer than this series.

You work with your #1 PP unit, to not only go through Giroux. You do not wait to game 3 in the first round of the playoffs to realise this.

You stop trying to force 10-40-17, when it clearly is not working.

You do not, in games 1-3 (I haven't checked after), have your 3rd line, and much of your 2nd line playing more minutes than your star players.

You try and get your top line away from the top D pairing of the other team, at home if you cannot on the road.

You also (god forbid), work with discipline with your team throughout the year, so we don't have trips to the penalty box in games 1-2, leaving them now playing tentative and fearful of taking a penalty.

Berube has limited options with this lineup

The second line has been an unmitigated disaster
G is way off his game
3rd line has been competitive
4th line has been way outplayed

Bad bad matchup

- Marc D

backbreaking goal by moore. again with their 4th line.

Laviolette got burned for having this team play a run and gun style, an aggressive style which they could not keep up with. So be it, but you knew you had an aggressive minded coach when you started trying to make this team into the Boston Bruins.

Berube has them playing more to their capabilities I will give him that.

- flyer_nutter

And yet the team still isn't any better under Berube then they were under Lavi. The Flyers still don't play a full 60 minutes (we are lucky if we get a 40 minute game) Numerouns dumb penalties and countless turnovers. You look at the team stats for this year vs the years under lavi and they are pretty dam close to the same. So Berube has done NOTHING to improve this team. The only improvement we have now is goaltending and Berube HAD nothing to do with that.

If giroux and gill bury those passes from voracek this is 3-3. Yes the rags do deserve to be leading as well... But i have not consumed any inebriating substances today and yet feel good about them going into the third.. Voracek is playing in fire today if his linemates and rest of the team for that matter get their heads out of their collectivw asses they can do this.

They have comeback all year but rags will be very tough

It is possible, I felt all along this series would go seven, I'm not changing my thinking now.

Gill scoring a goal?
When has that happened?

- Marc D

A professional hockey player should bury that into the back of the net. A goal there makes t 1-1 instead of 2-0 10 seconds later.

Atleast we know why he played 6 games all year!!!
- landros 2

you can't just blame GILL on that.... cobourn"s pass left a lot to be desired bang it up the boards instead of trying to make a pass with pressure

Your kidding right? Blaming Mason.....he's the only reason they are not facing elimination today. berube should be fired tho just for the lack of ability to change the game plan and the fact he choose to put in a 39 year old slow as F$&k pylon Hal Gill....yeah the flyers aren't slow enough in their own end lets make it worse....coach of the year boys.
- RobFlyers#1

Absolutely I was posting dripping with sarcasm. The 3rd rangers goal was Coburns fault. You don't pass across the front of your own net on that situation. To make it worse it was a bad pass.

Well they have 20 to go.

Lets see if the comeback crew has 1 more left in them. Would be nice to see an OT win.

Get it out now because we are winning this one.

both PP's are bad today, but I agree with the 2nd line. They are not good. Id like to see what someone mentioned earlier with hartnell moving to the 2nd and throwing someone else on the top line

In the 15 and 2/3 games Simmonds has played as a Flyer, taking out the ENG this series:

1 goal, 6 assists.

Against hard checking teams like NJ and Rangers 9 and 2/3 games (again leaving out ENG): No goals, 2 assists.

EDIT: post-season

I agree that the coach has not adjusted the way I'd like to see

But I really feel he has limited options with the current roster

He tries to get 40/10/17 offensive zone starts as much as possible but then all 3 get caught deep and leads to odd man rushes

Hard to do, I'd leave the 3rd as is. They aren't giving you goals which is unfortunate but that's what will happen when you continuously have them going up against the best of the other team.

I'd throw Raffl up on that first line LW, and move Hartnell down with bSchenn and Simmonds. That line was dominant earlier in the season, and both very productive.
