i like akeson. he has some things about him you cant really teach or get via hustling. i would give him an extended look next year
- stayinthefnnet

Oh double sure. I have no idea what took so long.

But there is a slight slowness in his reactions -hopefully a factor of his transition....

I could see them winning game 6 especially if the goalie is hot.
Could also see them losing in a close one.
But to win game 7 in NY?
Seems like a fantasy at best.

Really after their performance in game one I was expecting a sweep.
Two wins were a bonus.
Hope to hell I'm wrong.

I guess the Rangers had Stéphane Beauregard in their net.

In case you missed it, the Flyers out shot the Rags 26-22 today.

- 77rams

that 60 foot unscreend macdonald blast into csp's stomach for no rebound was an absolute beauty. highlight material.

the truth is he was a non-factor today. again. a few shots from in close, but nothing he shouldn't have been able to stop. the 2 gaping nets were of course, missed.

Being beat by a better team at thid point....Giroux an Timo are both big big disappointments ...when there you go to guys, that's not good.....no passion....is a problem...At least Berube changed the lines ...although I'm not sure there's a line I would put Hartnell on at this point....boys it's a shame because pieces are there....but man oh man this is a wimpy series...this ain't "Flyer" hockey ....this reminds me of when they got shalacked by Buffalo a few years back....
- landros 2

I think the officiating the first two games really had an effect on this series. The flyers look really tentative and aren't playing with any swagger. I think not taking penalties is in their heads.

It does seem their balls fell off after the regular season
- funmaster18

I don't buy that.

I buy that its a message that's being sent. When you have Giroux saying after last game that they get "too excited", and Hartnell saying before game 1 that they need to stay away from scrums because it wastes energy I see them taking on a message of playing in a way that doesn't allow them to use their strength.

This team has, and always plays better with emotion, and playing on that line. Engaging in scrums, etc.

At their most dominant, in the 15 minutes of the 2nd period of game 4. That is what they were doing.

Rinaldo is making no hits, or engaging. I see a message being sent to play this way, to avoid penalties.

It needs to end.

that would be a hell of a lot of salary coming on. and for all the crapping people do on coburn, i dont know if you would like the look of the defense without him.

I agree....where is Simmonds, Hartnell, Rinaldo ? I can't believe the lack of passion from this team....I'm shocked.
- landros 2

I am shocked as well. This should have been a series like the early 2000's series with the leafs. The Flyers couldn't be more passive if they tried.

The first thing out of G's mouth better be a guaranteed win in game 6.

it sucks that hes being forced to learn like this under the brightest of lights. maybe he just is one of those tweaner guys and will never be more than a fringe player. but id be willing to try and give him a 20 game run or so during the regular season to see if its just a matter of getting up to speed. his puck skills and vision are pretty apparent, and he doesnt loaf.

id give him a shot on the pens for sure.

Asking this team to win two in a row, with the way they have played all series, is asking a lot.

Although no longer important those 5 meaningless games at the end of last season really did a lot for the Flyers.

the thing that bothers me most about this series is that EVERY loose puck seems to find a way to a Rangers stick. The Flyers have fumbled so many passes, or just seem to miss connections ... meanwhile the puck can bounce off of 4 players and somehow it always seems to end on a Rangers stick.

I don't buy that. Your physical players, and players you always see getting under the skin of others all together stop doing it?

BS. No proof or whatever, but I will stand by my notion that its a message by sent by coaching to avoid "penalties".

officiating was a non-factor today, which was great to see. the flyers still had 5 chances. the late 2nd period pp goal, was just that. late.

The one thing that is inexcusable to me is being pushed around physically. That is just salt in the wound.

Giroux has been mugged all series. Mason was taken out with a dirty play just before the playoffs. They have been taking it to you physically in games 1-5. Where is the push-back other than from Voracek?

- flyer_nutter

Massive guys the size of Zuccarello are going to push guys around whenever they want. No way around it.
