officiating was a non-factor today, which was great to see. the flyers still had 5 chances. the late 2nd period pp goal, was just that. late. - hammarby31
Can you imagine the moaning from Rags fans if they Flyers would have won this game after that disallowed goal in the 2nd? "Officiating would have been a factor then. |

I think the officiating the first two games really had an effect on this series. The flyers look really tentative and aren't playing with any swagger. I think not taking penalties is in their heads. - bird_dog_pa
Maybe....but something's lacking .

He hasn't been forced to do much at all.
He could suck and the rags could still win |

Asking this team to win two in a row, with the way they have played all series, is asking a lot. - the deaninator
I guess then I have to ask for a lot.
I expect them to win the next two games. |

The refs gave the flyers every chance to win, imo |

you can't get any lower than losing so meh - 2Real
what?
anyway. im just saying. i hate the idea of you guys signing niskanen, and it will probably happen. he will definitely make you better, but i dont view him as a replacement for coburn. theyre not really interchangeable parts to me.
coburn is a good player. he just isnt a number one stud guy, and the problem is that the flyers expect him to play a weber type role. he just cant. and his snarl might not match his size, but its plenty there. especially in the playoffs. i know, what they hell do i know im just a pens fan and all, but he is a player that wont truly be appreciated until he in fact finally is gone. |

I thought this since Adam hall got his face washed in game 1 I think it was? - funmaster18
Its disturbing.
They have d-men, that the strength of which is an apparent physical game. There is even back-pressure from forwards but you see them continuously backing off into their zone.
They need to start imposing themselves physically, and stop fearing NY so much. Stop fearing "the chances the other way". NY is not some high powered offensive team, as much as the Flyers are making them out to be.
The identity here, to me is generally a D first team that plays not to lose. That's what I see right now. |

That was a huge break for the Flyers at that point of the game. But what did the Flyers do with? NOTHING. The Rags on the other hand knew they got hosed on that play but brushed it off and kept playing. |

and rightly so. i forgot about that play while typing. that said, the rangers were still winning at the time, and the ref lost site of the puck...so he made the call. happens all the time. |

And just for the fact on officiating? It has been poor all series.
However. The Rangers have mugged Giroux, and gotten away with it. They have taken it to the Flyers with borderline dirty plays.
People can female dog and moan all they want, but the Flyers can play that game the same as NY. They are choosing not to.
Have themselves to blame. |

Yup. Every game has been back and forth so I don't see why that can't continue Tuesday. Then break the trend on Wednesday |

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kimmo retire. The only real locks on the blueline are MacDonald and Streit at this point. I think two of Schenn, Grossman, and Coburn will be back. Unless Ghost really bombs in training camp, I expect him to be in the top 6. That leaves one open spot at this point I have no clue.

Back in forth maybe with wins, but the Rangers have dominated the Flyers for most of the series. The only way that trend breaks is the if the Flyers start dictating the play and they have yet to do that. |

Flyers had 5 PP's and the Rags had a goal that was clear as day waved off. Flyers got the benefit of the whistle big time today, and they still poop their drawers. |

Just watched all the goals again.
Mason has to save 1 or 3. That is the difference between a top level number 1 goalie like Rask , Lundqvist, Quick and the next tier which is where Mason is. I realize not all teams have access to those first type of goalies and I like Mason as a solid number 1 he just needs to save those types of shots. Especially the 3 one.
Still not sure how Giroux missed that goal at the start of the game.
Hopefully the Giroux goal turns out to be like his goal against the Oilers and he goes on to dominate after that like he did in the regular season. |

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if they beat up Richards or St. Louis like Giroux has been -- he's been trying to play through but it's been tough
