To be fair he's probably held together by duct tape at this point and still going out there. I admire him but he looks like a different guy lately.
- funmaster18

yeah. hes struggling. but i just dont think he has much more to give. i dont think anyone can question that if he had it in him, hed be leaving it out there.

must have have missed that. seriously.

I don't remember that either.

Old and small, but still speedy and skilled.

Macdonald and Streit getting pretty exposed as 4-5 guys in our zone. The much maligned Luke has outplayed them by a mile.

Bc kimmo is washed up. Can't keep pucks in
- Just5

Kimmo has been a warrior for this franchise, but it's time for the Flyers to move on.

Will be interesting to see who the # 1 dman will be next year. Anyone who thinks Coburn is a # 1 has to have their head examined.

Just watched all the goals again.

Mason has to save 1 or 3. That is the difference between a top level number 1 goalie like Rask , Lundqvist, Quick and the next tier which is where Mason is. I realize not all teams have access to those first type of goalies and I like Mason as a solid number 1 he just needs to save those types of shots. Especially the 3 one.

Still not sure how Giroux missed that goal at the start of the game.

Hopefully the Giroux goal turns out to be like his goal against the Oilers and he goes on to dominate after that like he did in the regular season.

If you think this series come down to goaltending. I'm not sure what to say to that

Flyers have had nothing but adversity all year. In fact, they've played their best during the season when they've had their backs up against the wall. This is the first time all playoffs that will be do or die. They got into the playoffs by playing well during those games. Let's see how they do.

Also, most 3rd period comebacks in franchise history this season. I don't know where you're getting "they can't handle adversity" from. My argument would be, they haven't had adversity in this series until now.

Yeah, but is it OK to lose if you take a ton of penalties? As soon as Engblom thought the Flyers were running around, he couldn't wait to say the Flyers were unraveling

I can't and don't agree with any of that.
How many come from behinds did they complete this season?
How hard was their schedule and they have an above 500 over the last 6 weeks of the season.

- opeth_pa

How hard was their schedule? Just as hard as any other teams schedule. The Flyers didn't play anybody different than the Rangers, Pens, Bruins, etc etc etc. The Rags started like 9 straight on the road to start the season. Every team had a hard part of their schedule just like the Flyers.

It doesn't come down to goaltending because that is just 1/3 of a team.

It doesnt change the fact that Mason needed to stop goals 1 or 3 today much like Hank stopped Hartnell 2 games ago or made a few key stops today.

I agree, I have all the admiration in the world for Kimmo. The reality is it is just time to probably move on, definitely not an indictment. I'm just not sure Niskanen is the answer.

Flyers had the hardest schedule in the entire NHL leading up to the playoffs agains the best teams in the league. Not sure how you can argue otherwise.

From March 16-22 the Flyers beat the Pens, Blackhawks, Dallas , Blues in a row.

Pretty much from March until the end of the season the Flyers had one of if not the toughest schedules.

They also were near the tops of the the league in come from behind wins this year. That includes coming from 2 down on the road in game 2 of this series.

They have multiple issues they need to address..Handling adversity has not been a problem this season.

In order I replace them, I think they need to evaluate their mix and see who fits long term first. Just replacing timonen with a "number 1" dman isn't the answer.

see, now i dont think niskanen is a number one guy either. a team who expects him to be will be disappointed.

but he still is a really good player, and can do a lot of things well.

Flyers have lacked that top pairing stud for decades, it really seems to be working out well for them.

Flyers need to retool the backend in the off-season. They have too many big, slow non-puck moving defencemen they need to get faster on the backend.

At some point EVERY Team has a part of the schedule that is difficult. It was only difficult for the flyers because there playoff future was at stake. If they had no chance at the playoffs or were comfortably in a playoff spot, that part of the schedule is a non-factor. The fact is, the Flyers haven't play well at since then.
