I wonder about Mantha... Q isn't exactly the hardest league to score goals in... lot of their big-time goal scorers, even draft-age ones, go on to really hit a wall after they turn pro. - Tomahawk
I feel like those are the smaller ones though. Mantha is a monster. His goal scoring numbers are incredible.
McKinnon seemed to do alright and I don't think many people are concerned with Drouin or, your boy, Ehlers. |

You have your plan i have mine. I am just not as eager to bring kimmo back. And he isn't taking a 50% pay cut so not like we are signing him for 3mil |

The problem with our defense is that it's made up of too many high priced guys. When evaluating Alt and Grossmann, the team must take salary into account. - PhillySportsGuy
I'm fine with that. The thing is, I'd rather them keep Kimmo if they can for around $3M and have a full-on open defense for camp and let the best 6 players win spots, and work around it as needed. If it's 6 guys on their ELCs and you need to sit your 6 "vets" so be it. But just hoping that a career AHL player is ready for 75+ games in the NHL is a big gamble. |

Yeah but being paitient when you gave up a 1st rounder for a draft that is supposed to be good is kind of stupid. If they go after spezza they better be ready to give up the 1st rounder and Griffin Rinehart - J35Bacher
I think it would take more than that. I'm not sure Rinehart is viewed as a guy with top pairing potential anymore. |

Okay. You go ahead and call your guy who hasn't been playing hockey in 3 1/2 months and throw him into a top-4 spot. Assuming someone else hasn't already signed him, or else you're married to what you just found out isn't gonna cut it. |

Hahaha just saw Islanders signed Halak. Wow over 4 mil for 4 yrs that is a big overpayment. - Just5
I think it is fine. Isles finally have a quality goaltender. They could actually be good this year. Which could be bad for Philly |

I think the hope would have been to have a guy like Gus as your 6th dman. Not much money committed, but not a guy you have to commit to as a 6th dman. He's capable of playing in the top 6 though. |

Their goaltending has been so bad for so long. They make the Flyers look like the Devils. |

Yeah, I just wonder what's under all that nifty skating/size/shot... is he a malleable coachable smart kid, or is he a beast that been able to get by w/o really having to pay attention to detail and having to work too hard?
I'm less worried about that w/ the smaller guys like G, MacK, Ehlers, etc... if they don't play smart and hard, they get squashed. |

So basically a swing man who could play either protected minutes in the NHL or spend time as the #7 or an AHL defenseman? |

BSchenn + a little extra for Evander Kane, any interest? Moving #10 for a winger that can play top line with Giroux while freeing up the center log jam a little.
Kane comes with some red flags, but I would be willing to move #10 in a deal like this
Schenn and Kane were same draft class, close to each other, I think this isn't far fetched.

Funny you should mention that... LHH just did a story about that:
http://www.lighthousehock...ed-about-griffin-reinhart - Tomahawk
I've done this stuff for a long time now, and I've NEVER, and will NEVER, understand why people are so eager to label these kids.
FFS, just 'em play. Let the kid(s) get out of junior, get to the AHL, advance to the NHL -- when they earn those promotions, preferably.
Do these kids have to have labels and pressure before they work their way up the ladder?
It's what kills some of these kids' careers.
There are gonna be people who slap Ghost with the label of bust, or overrated, if he doesn't make the Flyers this fall. You know it'll happen. Same with Laughton.
Some will be disappointed that 19-20-21 year olds don't crack the lineup in the highest league in the world AND THEN want to label them busts.
It happens every year, and it makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I think that "a little extra" starts with a 1st round pick, especially considering Schenn's not currently signed. E. Kane's a young premier power forward winger, and B. Schenn is a young center who just had hist first 20-goal season. Winnipeg's probably looking for a lot more added to that package. |

Wait, Laughton isn't a bust? He's never even scored a goal and he played 5 games. Trade him now. |

I still say we go a-poaching and go after Alzner and Carlson. Those bastards owe use after the Eminger for a 1st deal. That, and they also have Madison Bowey. I'd love to acquire any of them (preferably Carlson) and I'd give up some fairly good assets for the right deal. |

I agree that we wold have to sweeten the pot. I see them as semi comparable with Kane having an edge. More Center or Winger rational.
I'd prefer a prospect like Cousins if we could swing it, but probably a first. I still may do it with a 1st |

Exactly, man -- it makes no damn sense. It wouldn't bother me one bit if Laughton did a year in the AHL, two years, whatever, as long as when he makes the NHL, he maximizes his potential. |

That is what I want from him. AHL players are much better than Junior players, let him adjust and learn from playing with guys who are currently better than him. If he does well, he gets rewarded with top line mins on the minor league team which is much better than 8 minutes of nhl ice time |

Depends on the "little extra" If that means a 1st rounder, I'd rather keep Schenn. |
