* The Flyers went 3-8 in shootouts this season, bringing their all-time record in shootouts to 27-51.
* Ray Emery faced seven shootout attempts this season. Two shots missed the net. All five that were put on net were goals.
* Here is the Flyers individual shooter breakdown for shootout attempts this season:
Claude Giroux 5-for-11
Vincent Lecavalier 2-for-8
Matt Read 1-for-6
Sean Couturier 1-for-5
Michael Raffl 1-for-3
Brayden Schenn 1-for-2
Kimmo Timonen 0-for-1
Wayne Simmonds 0-for-1
Jakub Voracek 0-for-1
Jason Akeson 0-for-1 - bmeltzer
If they had won a couple more of these coin-flips, they might have had home-ice in the 1st-round.
Not sure how they can really tangibly improve, though... Matt Read had an off year, he's usually pretty good. Maybe Jake needs to take more attempts. And Razor... man, 0.000 SV% on shots put on net? Brutal.

Bill,
What kind of deal do you see for Schenn. I think he might get a little more then Couturier got because of the offense he brings but I was thinking about something that kept his cap hit at around 2 - 2.5 million. Am I being to generous? Could they get him at something closer to 1.7 |

The Ontario Hockey League waived the final two games of Stolarz's eight-game postseason suspension (for slashing Windsor's Josh Ho-Sang in the head) in order to allow him to participate in the Memorial Cup
So... it probably wouldn't end up going over so well if the Flyers ended up drafting Ho-Sang, eh? |

It would be fine. Plenty of players who have had incidents on the ice have ended up as teammates and it has rarely been an issue. For example, Petr Svoboda coexisted OK with Marc Bureau even though Svoboda never totally forgave Bureau for the needless elbow that hospitalized him.

Also I am starting the #LeoinO&B campaign. I thnk Karmorov on the fourth line with Laughton and rinaldo/raffl or someone else could create havoc. Think he could even play third line minutes too. |

I don't think home ice would have mattered in the end. Having Mason for those first 3 games would have been an x-factor in my eyes. Despite Emery playing well in 2 of those 3 games, seeing how the team plays in front of Mason tells me they turn at least 1 of those 2 losses into wins and are still playing today. C'est la vie |

Ya, I figured. My comment was meant more as tongue-in-cheek. On a similar note, do you think the Flyers would have any interest in Ho-Sang? He's definitely got great offensive skills, but can be a bit selfish. Jared McCann seems to fit the mold a bit more with his 2-way play, but the team could use an exciting scorer in the system. |

As much as I like Brayden Schenn, I'd love it even more if Calgary OS'd him in the $3.3-$5M and we ended up with their 2015 lottery pick. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Stolarz. Worlds QFs, Year in Review - bmeltzer
On Stolarz, the first two goals he gave up were passes from behind the goal line to unmarked players between the circles. It would have taken a miracle to stop those. The third goal however was a nightmare. A long shot off the back boards that rebounded out in front and Stolarz kick it in as he flailed getting back in his crease from challenging the shooter. Jake Patterson wasn't really an improvement. Geulph ate them alive.
London never really looked like they recovered from the 35 days they had between games. The offense, which was the second highest scoring in the OHL averaging more than 4 goals a game, couldn't find the back of the net. Stolarz held them in the first game and they went scoreless in a 1-0 loss. Their D that played pretty stoutly during the season was sieve like in the Memorial cup games.
I think the layoff killed London not the goaltending, They failed as a team. |

haha. Just from watching teams like the ducks and stars. Their fourth lines were physicall but could skate and create chances. I think a guy like Karmorov with laughton and someone else has that same identity and the line doesn't have to be sheltered as much and can play more then 4 minutes. |

You think they're gonna offer him lottery pick money? I seriously think a team would OS him at the no compensation ceiling. |

Bill do you think Dallas would have any interest in Vinny at all? They seem to be a team that wants to fly around, but they desperately need secondary scoring as well. Maybe we can bring Antoine Roussel back in a trade if we give them a pick and keep some salary. |
