I love carter so I hope they keep him. They'll definitely sign gio which is meh for me, Jo should get a contact imo and bernier should hit the road.

Unlike the other three, JJ's best days are still in front of him. I like Gionta... don't mind Carter as a sub... didn't much like Bernier's play last year.

Fantastically informative statistics as usual.

I think it's important to try to apply those statistics with what you see when watching the games (and vice-versa)

If you watch Josefson play on the 4th line (and the first for that matter) you see he really isn't much of a grinder or forechecker. He does not have any interest in working on the boards for the puck. He often drifts out into open ice, stands still, and waits for something to come his way.

He is a perimeter player. Much like Mattias Tedenby.

He also doesn't have much scoring touch. He'll often make a nice move with the puck in open space just to throw it into a pad. He often finds the glass with his shot. Pucks that went in at lower levels just don't translate here.

He hasn't been successful. It's not a coincidence. It's not a matter of giving him more opportunity. It's time to move on.

I would re-sign Carter and consider pursuit of the following free agents for a 4th line role

That is a long list of a lot of players with different attributes. I think that says a lot about the glaring need to rebuild the roster as a whole. Personally I think it will be best to get a bigger center than can win faceoffs, but most importantly
win key faceoffs Ultimately, this players overall size (Halpern, Malhotra, Handzus, Goc all differ) should dictate whether the winger that is added is more of Tanner Glass or more of Mason Raymond.

It's all about balance.

Sutter or handzus

Bring in Glass, Raymond, and Moore. Parros is a great idea if he can stop eating ice. He can be on the "occasionally not on the DL" line with Clowe. When theyre there for all 5 games together next season, that will be a hell of a line!

Then acquire a top 6 winger who can score.

Todd, how you tug at my heart's strings.

I love Carter want him back. Bernie can pack his bags i'll drive him to the airport myself cant stand him anymore he provides almost nothing. Gio i'll take back but I really hope they move him to RW if he is brought back. I don't think he is a good center and we have Jo who should be given the chance to play on the 4th line consistently. He looked decent towards the end of the year with regular ice time and did some nice things with Carter.

I've been saying the same thing for months. Carter is a very effective 4th liner that can also spot the 3rd line if need be. He has legs, grit, works on both ends of the ice and isn't offensively inept. The guy has had some clutch moments and when he's not having those he draws penalties and ultimately does a lot more good than harm. Bernier has gone from big body with average speed, to big body and slow. Gionta is good positionally and works hard, but doesn't have much of an edge. But he did play well.

Bernier should definitely go. Carter should definitely stay. Jo will stay, Gionta probably will.
