Too bad Feaster was a sh*tty GM and had terrible analysis of skill.
- Jebus_Price

I completely disagree.

If you are a pooper scooper it doesn't matter how good you are at it you are still dealing with poop.

Feaster was brought on to turn an average team into a winner. The only way to do that was to take a step back. Which doesn't look great short term but will look better in a couple years.

True story...I was only asking because I never watched him play.

Boring. All depends on Team Needs...otherwise BPA regardless of size.
- Jeropotato

Yea but BPA is rated differently by each team. Feaster rated hockey IQ very highly. B&B likely have size and truculence higher rated than Feaster did.

FAN 960 just said that Flames are making a serious push for 1st overall so they can take Ekblad.

Yeah, but usually the top 4 or 5 players on the lists remain in the 4 or 5...general consensus is usually pretty universal. The odd time you see someone from off the board jump up into the top 5, but even rarer still does that player prove to belong. I can't think of any examples in the last 10 or more years.

Funny Edmonton, Buffalo, Vancouver, Carolina, Toronto, and Washington are all said to be doing same thing.

Maybe some fans said this , but most of us feel the price would too high to move up for a marginally better player. Management said nothing to imply this was a direction they wanted to go in.

Too bad Feaster was so bad at the draft... wasted alot of time and good prospects.

Feel sorry for Calgary... started the rebuild 2 years too late.

They didn't want to admit it was time!!!

Umm I do not think thats true at all. I know this all a couple guys opinion but this website had them ranked as 28th when Feaster Started. Now the flames are at 6. I think that is looking pretty good.

An Islanders fan commenting on starting a rebuild late is kinda skewed...they started in 1986 so I guess they think that's the preferred method. I know, I know...Oilers fan....8 years...blah, blah, blah....

That's just a troll trying to find a team he perceives as pooptier than his. Islanders might finish higher in the standings, but they are decades away from being true contenders. I would go as far to say that they are probably among the furthest teams away from a championship in the NHL.

Not that infrequent, off the top of my head Griffen Reinhart and Ryan Strome in the last three years alone.

If Bodog came out with odds to be the last team to win a stanley cup they would pay even money.

I get your point, but these guys weren't way off the board...nor have they proven/disproven they deserved to be there.

Feaster over saw a scout team that drafted.....

2011: Baertschi, Granlund, Wotherspoon, Gaudreau

2012: Seiloff and Gillies. Jankowski could be added to that list in a year or two.

2013: Monahan, Porier and Klimchuk

That's very close to top notch scouting.

Probably. I would say all the lottery teams are closer, obviously the true contenders....but there's not many tweener teams on the rise right now.

I would say 5 years from now the contenders would be Philly, Tampa Bay, Edmonton, Habs, San Jose, Chicago, St.Louis,Columbus,Florida.

Core of these teams should be past their best before date in 2019: LA, Pens, Anaheim, Rangers, Bruins,Wild

These teams can either float around oblivion or re-start their builds: Toronto, Ottawa, NYI, Washington, Carolina,

Still building but on their way: Calgary,Buffalo

I have zero idea what direction these franchises are going in: Nashville, Phoenix

This is just a guess, looking at their core groups ages and based on what direction they appear to be taking.

Oh you mean my point that your memory of what had happened in the last three drafts was spotty?

Now rather than say 'oh yeah I forgot about that' you try to add a qualifier that they have to be way off the board, however that is not what you said in your original post. Good lord.

You don't need to post links for my benefit.

Okay you are right....I did forget. Good for you, old wise sage master.

You just HAD to put Edmonton in there didn't you

I'm not convinced (nor am I convinced about FLA). Too far to go. I would put them in the wildcard division.

Yeah, I believe the Oilers will a top team in 5 years. They have a ways to go though...at least 2 if not 3 seasons before they get to the playoff's even.
Like it or not, you guys are not as close to the cup as we are. You could quickly patch things up and get to the Dallas Stars level pretty quick and be in the playoffs as a bubble team faster , but that's not what you really want is it?
