Colin. Focus an getting your blogs out by noon. I like to have something to read at lunch

Im sure this article is good but I will read it later.

But reading the title I know Feaster made it a policy to pick the most skilled guy available regardless of size. Which if you look at his draft picks they are pretty inline with that philosophy. (there are always exceptions).

The reason I though Ritchie might be a target is size AND skill, Power forwards are also very sought after. Anyway size does not always preclude skill, and all things equal between a small and larger player I think taking the larger player is a better thought.

Ive been watching highlights of Ritchie lately; have my doubts on whether his trademark wristshot will translate into the NHL.

Who knows, I just thought if bennett or Reinhart are not available they'd go that route. I called the Jankowski and Monahan drafts so I'm pretty much money. (sarcasm)

They might. That would solve the mystery of the 6th person within the group Conroy claimed they had decided they could draft and do fine with.

I think players are just rapidly shrinking due to global warming.

so team need or best player available? Hilarious comment. Like saying they should draft small, if not they should draft large. derp.

one of the best goal scorers in the draft, last hitman they drafted was Krahn though, once bitten...

I think the trend towards smaller players is a result of the game having a greater emphasis on skating, and teams wanting a fast transition game. This has made scouts put more weight on the players skating/speed. I do make the assumption that smaller players are better skaters, although it is not always the case.

Pay attention. If you have next to no assests....take the best player available and build around him. If you have a team full of smurph's, get a bigger player....if you have plenty of size and truculence....add the best skilled player....plenty of times you don't take the BPA over team need (the Oilers, for example, should avoid the BPA if he happens to be an undersized winger)....I may have not articulated that as well as I should have, but it's not rocket appliances.

What the hell Colin, the convo was just picking up in the other thread

Okay there bud, Feaster was a lot of things, but he and Weisbrod were excellent judges of talent. He's provided us with the best prospect pool the Flames have had in memorable history. Poirier Monahan, Gaudreau, Seiloff, Wotherspoon, Grandlund, and Baert, to name a few, look like they will become NHL regulars. We also have guys like Klimchuk, Gillies who are showing plenty of promise.

Go hang out on the Leafs board with other Habs fans, they're more your level.
