What happened in the one series that didn't go seven games that year?

If only JVR didn't blow it, we wouldn't have traded him for superstar Luke Schenn

Would anyone look into aquiring the rights to Burmistrov from WPG?

Seems to be a much bigger advantage to having a young, quality 2C playing on his ELC -- than trading him for "size."

But hey, I hope the Hawks do it. Acquire less skill and murky up your cap situation. Seems prudent.

Believe me, I hear you -- I absolutely hear you. I'm not a Kesler guy as it is, so I wouldn't mess with it for that reason alone, but the Blackhawks -- I don't think think they're desperate.

I think they truly believe they can win another few Cups -- plural -- and think that sacrificing Teravainen for who they believe to be the right No. 2...I do think they're going to pull the trigger on it.

I do think we'll get some insight into that with how they handle Marian Hossa -- if they don't CBO him because of that back-diving deal, with Kane and Toews coming up...I'd almost believe that you have to be trying to win right now right now right now.

Meh we don't need a LW....its easy for a center to play left wing

And Luke Schenn is a special talent at a cap friendly price, these guys are hard to find around UFA time

Isn't Shaw developing into a decent #2C?

I think they'll move either Hossa or Sharp, and Oduya.

I think they'll move a D... Clendening is one of the best d-prospects that nobody ever talks about, but he just had a crazy good season w/ Rockford and they'll probably look to bring him up next season.

Doubt they mess w/ Oduya/Hjalmarsson... maybe Brent Seabrook gets moved for a huge haul?

Huh. What do you think Sharp gets you? Player/prospect/pick? Or are you thinking positional swap, LW for C?

Who do you think would get more in return: Sharp or Hossa? I have little doubt you could move Hossa if you wanted, but he's a little older than Sharp, no? Or am I just not thinking clearly today?

Perhaps. He's still very young and just posted a 20-goal season. Not sure if he's a 2C on a really good team or not, but certainly a nice player who might develop into that.

He's kind of a small player if they are truely looking for a bigger #2C

I think they're just moving out salary to bring up some of their kids. Moving guys like Shaw, Saad and Teuvo into bigger roles.

They also have Clendening and Rundblad ready to step up on defense.

Sharp would get you much more in return, imo.

If they're smart (which they are), they'll just keep Teuvo, use him as the 2C, and possibly be even better next season.
- bradleyc4

Shaw hasn't looked out of place playing on the 2nd line.

Definitely one of the more interesting teams heading into the draft, certainly -- they almost have to do something, because of the contracts they have and are pending.

This trading season...I think it's going to be absolutely fascinating, even if/when the Flyers sit it out.

I don't think the Blackhawks should go into the offseason looking to make major changes. That series could have gone either way. They have some decent prospects and should just stay the course. They have a cup contending team as is. No need to get too cute and mortgage the future. Trading prospects for older players will narrow the window.

It's not so much that they're knee-jerking -- it's the Hossa back-diving contract problem, with Kane and Toews both coming up after next season.

They've gotta free up some cash, somewhere.

He's been adequate. I just think they're even better (skill-wise) with Teuvo on the 2nd line and Shaw on the 3rd.

It's a good time for them to free up some cap space. Toews and Kane are going to be free agents next summer.

I think they'd really like to move Bickell. Perhaps they package Bickell and Sharp together for a first round pick and a guy with 1 year remaining on his deal.

I am with you on all of this.

Riddle me this batman

if the league hadnt arranged the lottery for Kane to be a Hawk, do the Flyers win the 2010 finals with him in the lineup instead of JVR, with Giroux, Carter, Richards and Gagne. etc ???

- Steelmanpa

at the very least that little jerk would have fetched us a top notch d prospect in a trade

What do you think the "ask" is going to be for them? Giroux money? Crosby money? Malkin/Ovechkin?

Those deals...I don't even know what I'd do.
