Am I the only one who puts stock into the different CHL leagues? To me, a guy tearing up the QMJHL scoring and a guy tearing up the WHL scoring are not equal. Also, I don't trust the USHL at all, as some of those teams are downright awful.

I don't think the WHL is that hard to score in these days. The same number of players scored 100 points there this season as did it in the Q.

2. There is very little difference in the expected outcome/probability of an NHLer of guys drafted in the 8-20 range. Trading up from #17 to #10, for example, is a complete waste of assets, imo.

The more I think about it, I agree. They have some good kids in the pipe and some solid pieces on the roster, but they don't have another Giroux.

If they're going to trade up, screw trying to jump into the top 10. Talk to Florida and get the top pick.

Ekblad, probably...Most NHL ready and seems to be the safest pick. I'd rather do both Schenns and the 17th pick to get TJ Brodie and the 4th pick, even if there's more moving parts.
