I would walk away from Timonen no matter the cost. I only feel like we are delaying the inevitable by not walking away from him. He's 39 and our coaches feel like he requires rest down the stretch. Also his ice time and point production has gone down the past couple of years. If some are truly suggesting Lecavalier for Phaneuf, Timonen also has to go for this deal to be approved.

As for Lecavalier, he's gotta give the OK to go to Toronto or anywhere else. From what I can tell, you think Lecavalier isn't a good player. I disagree. You are fixated with him only playing a fouth line center role. I disagree with you. During an 82 game schedule, changes are likely to happen up and down the line up. Is Lecavalier a limited player? Sure. He cannot play all different positions in all different situations on the ice but he can naturally score 20 when a large percentage of players cannot score ten. If Lecavalier is a limited player, expect limited options to move him. If he's a bad player, expect no options.
