Let's not compare the two processes. NHL teams actually go out and watch the players play, exensively. The data they have is far more extensive then what any fan has. All a fan does is read some articles and watch some youtube videos. Or catch a game here or there if possible. Let's not pretend that any fan has the same amount of research and scouting behind these players, in forming an opinion. - MJL
I understand. And I am not comparing the two process. As much as they watch the kid play they are still quessing if his skills translate to the nhl game. They might have more data but it is still a guess. All fans can do is reaserch the most they can and make there guess as well. Some people on here might not just be fans but maybe do have backrounds with sports teams |

BAP, and don't get too stressed out either way. No one knows what a kid will do, some will make it and some won't. Just the nature of the beast, and you do the best you can |

Just curious what others thinks.
If the flyers could move Vinny where might he waive to go and what could be possible return? I assume some money would have to be retained. |

Obviously Ekblad is a pipe-dream, but what about Hadyn Fleury? I think he could be had if the Flyers were to try and move down 5-7 spots? I know drafting a scoring winger or scoring forward is ideal, but I'd love to see us try and nab him! I'm willing to part with Hagg as a dangling piece in any trades we are potentially involved in. |

A few posters here watch more than just a game here or there when it comes to young players, but generally I agree with you. Youtube does not a pro scout make. |

Florida makes sense... As for what the return would be, who knows. I'd assume a 2nd or 3rd maybe? |

are you Haggling? |

I got you. I was kind of thinking what happened with Couturier. He was supposed to be possible number one and then got mono. Dropped down to 8 then. - J35Bacher
Yeah it's possible but if you think about it and they held the draft over would couturier drop to 8 still. Virtanen would be an absolute steal at 17. |

lol. He wouldn't be the only piece... I just meant if we are involved in any trades, draft-related or not, to try and land more pressing pieces.
Basically, I'm willing to part with Vinny (we retain some), Laughton, Hagg, and picks to land a stud D, the 1st, or a stud scoring winger. |

I think alot of hockey players have back issues which make it tough to do pull ups - vejim
I don't think the muscles targeted when doing pull-ups really help with someone's hockey game.
The fact that he is doing the things he is without being able to do a single pull up is amazing. It would help his draft stock in my opinion. When someone gets put on a weight lifting program as a novice, you experience "noob" gains. Some people can more than double their strength in the first 6 months. |

Nashville... Maybe. Return would be a second round pick at the high end but a third rounder or a prospect that has not fit within the organization would probably be more realistic. |

I'd take that.
What about to Florida for say Flieshmann and a pick. I could see that as a swap of bad deals with Vinny and Flieshmann. Flieshmann does have some skill and is a winger. |

Ok draft him. Seriously he's a puck carrier with supreme puck skills. This team needs skating and skill. We have enough youngsters with grit |

I don't mean to put so much stock into goal-scoring but I would draft a scoring sniping winger if possible. Just a kid with an impressive shot. Obviously you want a kid who can do a lot of things well but sadly it seems to me like a sniper of any kind is nowhere to be found within the system. |

I would call it an educated guess, backed up by years of expeirience. And I doubt many fans have that same level of expertise. |

Access is limited to these kids. It's fun to talk about and to take interest and to discuss it. And really that's what we're here to do. I don't get involved in draft prospect conversations because I don't spend anytime looking at the players. I don't even know who they are in most cases until they're drafted. I just don't think many fans really have either the expertise, or the information needed to come to an opinion, that rivals what the people who get paid to scout and draft players professionally do. That's really my only point. And it's an inexact science even for the experts. |
