The product is a total disgrace. They better hope Lee gets healthy to assist in the rebuild. Other than Papplebon(if he keeps going), not much else to trade. - jstross
Adams looks a lot better. He could be an option too.
Bullpen arms are such hot commodities at the deadline. Those guys may be able to bring back a nice prospect.
I think Lee would be tradable too. |

What are your pairings if the Flyers have:

Michael Carter Williams, Thadeus Young, Pick #10 and next year 1st for Kyrie Irving. Probably not near enough, but watching the Phils the mind wanders. - jstross
Cavs have already said they want to make the playoffs next year. There are rumors they would trade their #1 pick in order to get a star player to play with Irving. |

I'm personally more excited to see what the young kids they do have, namely Alt/Lauridsen and Ghost (who I believe they want to 'rush) can do. |

Through the first 8 games of the season, prior to his injury at Washington, Lecavalier was shooting at 19.2%.
Given that he was a career 12.1% shooter entering last season, it's very unrealistic to expect him to sustain a 19.2% over the course of the season.
The injuries were a factor for him. But he also didn't play well late in the season when he himself stated the back was not an issue.
Again, more troubling is how does he fit in the Flyers intended system and style of play? Over the last two seasons, at least, his possession numbers are not good and he's not a great skater. From what has been said by the coach and GM, the Flyers will put a greater emphasis on these two areas moving forward. |

I love Timonen, and he has been my favourite Flyer for a while.
I am at a crossroads. While I do believe having him on the team, for his leadership, and to mentor young-dmen has value I do not want it to come at the cost of playing time for said young d-men.
Guss was not allowed to play last season as there was no more room, and the Flyers need to at the very least give Alt/Lauridsen a chance.
I don't think the Flyers can move Streit, nor should they move Coburn. If however they can move one of Grossmann, Luke Schenn or MacDonald then I am in favour of bringing back Kimmo.
More than anything though, there needs to be playing time available for the kids. Consistent time, not jumping from press-box to ice every other game. If the Flyers are worse overall because of that so be it. Don't need to follow the fools hope that they can win every year. - flyer_nutter
Gustafsson not playing was more due to the coaching staff trying to keep Grossmann, Schenn & Meszaros in the lineup than Timonen.
Honestly, if Kimmo's a third pair guy he'd be a great partner for a kid like Alt.

To me its time to release this dream of winning it all every year. They are out a few years, and need an infusion of higher level talent, especially on that back end.
I want nothing to do with Niskanen, who will be just another long overpaid contract, and I have a feeling Stralman will get the same. Stop giving out huge deals for mediocrity.
If they can move one of the current D they have, I'd want that spot to be filled first and foremost with Alt/Laudrisen/Ghost.
If they can move two from that current back end, even better, but I don't see it happening. |

Meh, I think Guss didn't play because they wanted to win at all cost in the 'now'. Vets like Gill/Mez give you a safer way to do that.
I'd love to keep Kimmo around for a mentor. I think that's really important for a young d-man.
Perfectly fine with:
Coburn-Streit
MacDonald-Schenn
Alt-Timonen
Its ugly as (frank), but that's the corner they painted themselves into. I look to the future of this team, more than to the win now. |

If Gustafsson didn't play because they wanted to win now, then they really missed the point. The Flyers were a more effective team with Gus in the lineup over Meszaros & Schenn.
I don't think winning now and developing for the future have to be mutually exclusive. Detroit won Stanley Cups and developed talent. Boston's doing the same. So is Chicago and LA. |

Niskanen and to a lesser degree Stralman scare the poop out of me.
Huge contract, for middle of the road talent. Enough of that. |

I'd love to see them move Grossman and resign Kimo as a 1 year bridge. If they can get a pick or 2 for Grossman(given the price of Dmen they should be able to). |
