Is Sharp actually going to be available via trade? What would the cost be? |

There's been speculation based on his age, with Toews & Kane coming up on UFA, that he could be dealt to create cap room. I'd imagine he'd be rather expensive, Hawks will probably want young talent(i.e. cheap) and picks |

I had a hard on for Sharp before the Flyers traded him, so my opinion on the matter is full of bias :/ Guess he has a NMC and modified NTC according to Capgeek, so I guess the Hawks would be in a bit of a bind trying to find a suitor.
Oh well, just an interesting name I've seen come up here and other places |

I doubt he'd be hard to move, but at the same time they'd have to find a team that he'd be willing to go to, has enough cap and has kids/picks they'd be willing to move |

I really wish they could get Giroux a real shooter somehow. I know improving the D is more important, but I just want to see Giroux with a real shooter.
And now I'm repeating myself |

Not at all, I agree wholeheartedly with you. They just have bigger holes that need filling. |

Trading Sharp now would be a very strange move. He's 32 and has three years left at $5.9m and just scored 78 points.
They shouldn't be in cap trouble considering they have no LTIR issues and they have two players signed to cap circumventing deals (Keith and Hossa).
Yeah, they have about $4m and only need to sign/recall a backup goalie and a couple of forwards. Next year when Kane and Toews will each be getting $9m+ then Sharp might have to be traded. |

How is it possible for a stacked team to have little cap issues, while a middle of the road team is in cap hell? |

Re VL (and I really don't want to go on and on about this all franking day!)
VL is best, by far at center
The Flyers have 3 centers (G, Schenn & Coots) who are better players
Laughton is a much more logical 4th line center than a guy with a 4.5 million cap hit and no speed.
VL is so-so at right wing, but would need to play on a scoring line.
Voracek and Simmonds are much better options as our top 2 right wingers
VL sucks at left wing
VL does not fit the hard skating, puck possesion lineup that Hextall and Berube want to ice
VL needs to be traded, even if you have to eat some $$ to do so
Thus endeth the lesson

Could just happen to be when the cap hell happens. Chicago should certainly hope Kane and Towes decide to take a "friendly" deal to stay with them. If they wanted to max out like they could, the Hawks would have to make some space |

Keith would have a $7m to $8m cap hit if he wasn't signed to a back diving deal. So would Hossa.
And if one of those guys had got Pronger'd then Chicago would be (frank)ed. |

There is no question there is a lot of this here. Even this morning. One view doesn't trump another view if the points are valid. There are pros and cons to each player up and down the current roster. With this said, disagree with one person on this board, the entire board assumes you're here to troll and will turn against you. Well, I prefer to stand my ground with or without support. - SuperSchennBros
hope you know my post wasn't in response to you, just simply stating I am in agreement the king kenzo. |

No I did take into account his injury that you claim is the bane of his existence. And I showed that the injury did not have an effect on his play. He basically benefited from a high shooting % early in the season that was due to even out over the course of the season.
Yes he scored 20 goals, but at -16 (on a team that averaged around a +/- 1, you know the context so don't argue no context) he allowed a whole hell of a lot more to go in.
You completely dismiss corsi in an argument that shows that he was better at getting shots to the net AFTER his injury (you called a 2% increase in corsi a slight increase which it isn't, but that was far from the point). And both of those corsi numbers were GOD AWFUL.
Overall he was a serious detriment to the team. He did and will continue to allow a lot more scoring chances against than he will create and he will continue to make players around him worse. |

Agreed. I still think he can be a productive player in the league. I just don't think its here. Hexy's challenge is identifying that team where he can be productive, getting Vinny to agree to go there, and getting something back in return.
I think Vinny also understands this and wont make it more difficult than it has to be, so it is finding the trade partner that will present the most difficulty. |
