If they re-sign him, he's an option. But Lecavalier and Spezza are two different kinds of players. |

I don't see paying a player 4.5M to center the 4th line as a good option. If Lecavalier is on the team next season, then they need to do what is neccessary to get the most out of him. - MJL
Well, if they don't feel that he fits in the top-6, then they could do what Montreal did with their $4M player in Briere. |

So if the Flyers say "We're heading to camp with Giroux, Couturier and Schenn as our 3 centers. We don't want to move Schenn from center no matter what because we feel that's his best position" what will he say? - PhillySportsGuy
"That's not what I read on Hockeybuzz." |

Spezza was a playmaker. Lecavalier is a shooting center. He needs to play with a playmaking Winger. - MJL
Exactly. If you can move him, that's fine. However I'm fine with giving him another season and hope for the best. It's not like it's impossible that he cannot provide a bounce back season. |

The same thing. I'll change their minds about that is camp. Word like that are never written in stone. |

Anything is possible. But my point is, is that a good option? I don't think it's good for the team, or the player. |

I don't either. Which is why I believe they will look to move him. |

Is making him adjust to the wing an option? Obviously he's not good at it but is this a possibility? Keep an open mind. |

They tried that for the better part of 1/2 season. It didn't take, and it was actually a huge disaster...like Rinaldo on the PK experiments disaster. So no, it's not realistically an option. |

Curious as to why you found that funny? - MJL
Just because there really was no debating what the poster was speaking about. It was clearly posted that he was talking about the "splash" being the home team trading to move up into the top 3 picks. Not about moving a player or adding a player. Strictly about moving into the top 3 picks. It wasnt isnt subjective at all.
I found that funny. |

Not even MJL thinks he can play wing. That should tell you all you need to know. |

LW, RW, C, 1st-line, 2nd-line, 3rd-line, 4th-line, 1st-unit, 2nd-unit... where didn't VL play last season?
With a shot like that, they should dress him as #7 D. |

Also, if he's "obviously not good at it" then it's not a very good idea to play him there. Unless you think it's fair to try Nicklas Grossmann at Giroux's wing while they're at it. |
