Coburn-Phaneuf
Timonen-Schenn
Amac-Streit
It's a very expensive defense, but definitely an improvement from what we have. (If we got Phaneuf, Grossmann or Schenn would likely get moved). - PhillySportsGuy
I'm not sure I'd even bother with re-signing Timonen at that point, I could see just going with:
Coburn-Phaneuf
Amac-Schenn
Streit-Alt or Lauridsen |

Its not ideal, but maybe. Though I think if they are willing to eat 1.5 million of the cap hit they can move him, and I'd rather have 1.5 for only 4 years instead of a buyout. - BiggE
So would I. I just wanted to make my point clear and go to the extreme. |

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that circumstances have changed.
Being decisive, even if it means making an error, is better than looking at a scenario over and over and then telling yourself that what you saw wasn't true - AllInForFlyers

All things being equal, I would rather bring Kimmo back and move one of Schenn or Amac along with Grossman. That might be a little too much turnover though.
Bringing Kimmo back would likely give Alt no chance of winning a job. The team isn't going to sit guys making $5M to give a rookie a chance. |

Depends on the definition of a splash. Lamoriello traded his first round pick to Vancouver for Schnieder. Is that a splash? - MJL
It was a great deal for them at the time. Then they tried their best to screw it up by letting Brodeur play in so many games this season. I hope Schneider bolts next offseason and they are left with nothing. |

Impossible.
The Zombie Franchise in Newark will find some other way. They always do. |

I guess LaCavalier for Phaneuf does not excite anyone from either fan base? - spatso
Would Toronto do that deal?
I don't think Toronto would do that deal. |

True, though Carolina did surprise me a bit with Lindholm at #5. I would have thought they would have either gone D with Nurse or Risto or went with Monahan, but either way they still got a very good player. - BiggE
Don't worry, they'll pretty much solve all their problems on D from what they get back for the Staals (3). |

What's more likely:
1) Eric, Jordan, other (Jared?) go to NYR
2) Marc goes to NYR
3) All 4 go somewhere else
4) They never get all 4 in one place |

I think Marc re-signs in NY. There are already rumors that Carolina might consider dealing one or both of their Staals |

They'll somehow obtain Bruno Gervais and turn him into a Norris candidate. |

"Flyers should target Thomas Vanek."
Have at it. - jmatchett383
why??? No worth the asking price if he was Montreal might have had a better faith. Vanek = lots of talent + extreme stretches of laziness = not worth the asking price. |

Oh, I'm not advocating it. But I want to see if it could possibly create a Sharknado. |

Let me make my point clear, so we can move on from the VL topic.
I would rather buy VL out than have him come back to the Flyers. Even if that means eating $2M/year for the next 8 seasons. It would suck and I would much rather look to trade him and eat salary, but that's what I would do if I had to. - PhillySportsGuy
The biggest issue isn't if he can still play or at least be an asset for a team that needs a goal scorer, it's how he fits. With what Berube seems to want to do, with Hextall's blessing, is be a more possession based, skating team. That isn't Lecavalier's strong point. |

Not ignoring it, but making it a bigger focus, like LA has done under Lombardi. Let's face it, Darryl Sutter is as old school as they come and he's preaching possession. |
