I agree it was a physical mistake. It does happen. Looked like the puck took a bad bounce. My issue was, you would like your first pairing dman to still make the play there. It's certainly not impossible to corral a bouncing puck. - PLindbergh31
I think Doughtys turnover on the first goal was way worse.. Fortunately for him, it wasnt the deciding goal.

Simon Hjalmarsson off the market... Kekalainen and the Jackets got him. |

It's not impossible, but when the puck is bouncing and you've got a forward forechecking, you don't always have the time to corral it while keeping it in an opportune position (i.e. corral it and be able to not immediately turn it over). It happens. Just happened at a very bad time/position for NYR. The same thing would have happened if it was Pronger/Weber/Doughty/Lidstrom/etc. Just how it goes. - jmatchett383
I understand what you are saying. I'm crushed that it happened!!!
Carle would have not only corralled the bouncing puck, but he would have made a great outlet pass all in the same motion. |

High risk play he attempted. He makes that most of the time. The goal he scored was sick. |

The best play at that point would have been to make a physical play on the man and take the penalty. If you've got a bouncing puck and a guy coming on you like that on that spot on the ice, you make sure he's not able to get his stick on it. But yeah, crushed at the result. |

Lol, him turning down all of the Isles' 2012 draft picks for #2 is still (frank)ing hilarious to this day... hope Ryan Murray was worth it. |

It was a pretty weak draft, but yeah, acquiring a boatload to move 2 spots within the top 5....yes please! |

Not much more if any. Pretty sure giroux scraped every penny out of the flyer on his deal. Doughty at the time wasn't worth much more than that, I guess unless the flyers were bidding on him
Getzlaf and perry deals were right in girouxs wheelhouse as UFA's They are a couple years older but they also won a cup - Just5
If Giroux was a free agent this off season, it's a guarantee that he would get a higher offer from a team, with team's competing for one of the top players in the League.
Again, Perry and Getzlaff were negotiating with one team. Not with many teams competing with each other.
There's a huge difference between a negotiation with a players current team, for a contract extension. And a player putting himself on the open market to the highest bidder. |

are they good? sure? they forecheck and attack defensively as five man unit, work hard, clutch and moving pick their way through a game, and have a top goalie. that will win a lot of games.
they don't have any business beating la. agree. - hammarby31
They'd be a lot better if a player like Rick Nash would play like the top player he is supposed to be. Players like Hagelin and Pouliot are more effective. LA will wear down the Rangers over time. We saw that last night. The best chance that the Rangers have is for Lundqvist to steal the series. |

Nah, it would only happen to Matt Carle, or Jody Shelley. |
