Kind of... he felt disrespected by being left in for 7 goals against Detroit.
Didn't Marty? He was left off team Canada by multiple GM's . - mlindsay
First off Team Canada isn't the Tampa Bay Lightning
Second, this wasn't just an Yzerman decision, it was a Team Canada decision made by the entire group from Yzerman down to the coaches
3rd-Doesn't the fact that Marty played so little in Sochi confirm the fact that he wasn't as close to the top of the Canadian depth chart as he thought he was. All the while the coaching staff was experimenting throughout the entire tournament trying to find the right line combos for Crosby on down

I agree with you. However NYC would be on fire from the Messier jersey burning ceremonies - uf1910
I'm a terrible fan, not being from NY or USA (or any place that has a player in the NHL) I usually am just a fan of different players - although NYR is my team, I welcome trades and player movement so don't ever really hold a grudge or take issue when players leave. |

You guys might like to know that the Rangers blog (Jan Levine) does NOT have a Ranger referee. They cry about it all the time, how trolls can come on there and stir things up, while Blogs like Chicago's delete posts at the drop of a hat if remotely anti-Hawk. Not advocating anything...just thought you should know. |

Classless move by him. I can't stand when players hijack the professional hockey dynamic (allowing managers to actually do their job) by requesting trades only to certain cities.
Glen Sather has the easiest job in hockey.
Give MSL his bib and pacifier already. |

I'm happy for the return and I'm happy about our future. I'm done talking about a player who wanted out. He got what he wanted and we got good picks. End. Of. Story. |

I, for one, hope the Rangers lose. It will bring me about as much happiness as seeing Hossa's face when the Penguins beat the Wings after Hossa jumped ship after the previous season saying the Wings had the better chance of winning the Cup. It won't be as satisfying as the Bolts eliminating the Rangers in the playoffs but I'll take it. |

Nope, whole League is laughing at YOU for having any faith in the vain little whiff-machine that MSL has become. Wouldnt be surprised if he hears more boos in the Garden b4 this King beat down is done. - meta_puck_luck
Why at me? I don't recall having faith in him... I do remember bashing him for not scoring goals though. |

1) Whether or not it was for TB or Canada... it'd be tough to look each other in the eye after an elite player is told he is not elite enough.
2) He may have felt that he didn't fight his corner as strong as he could have with the group. who knows? He certainly has a career that can be pointed to.
3) Coaching decisions left him as the alternate on a few occasions. I wouldn't say that's what made him the obvious left out guy. I would say he just didn't have the coaches favour. The games he did play I thought he looked great.
regardless... as I stated earlier... he clearly had reasons and as Roy did... he asked to be moved. It sucks. But it happens quite a lot. |

Haha, that WAS bitter! Sucked that he was so good all year UNTIL that Pens final. Guess he got the last laugh on both our teams with a few cups of his own in chi-town. Im sure it wasnt easy for Hawks fans to see Chelios skating cup with wings, or for Bruin fans to see Bourque with the Avs. We booed Federov for yrs. Guess we all have our moments - moving on is the only way in the salary cap age, and enjoy it while you have the horses! |

Talk about stamping your feet, how many times can Tampa fans tear into St. Louis , what do want him to say NY is nothing compared to Tampa, I miss Tampa, have some closer and show some class, using your blog as a tool to deface your greatest player is wrong - KreiderBomb
Was thinking the same exact thing myself. Fan is short for fanatic; logic is often left aside when discussions about their team, city etc are on the table.
I have met and played golf with St Louis twice at his First Stride golf tournament in Vermont; the guy is nothing but humble, generous and all around just a great person. Tampa taking swipes at him for being a NYR and saying good things about his current team and situation is just childish. You would swear not a single person there has every left a job for a new or even, dare I say, a better position. |

Trade worked out ridiculously well for TB even more so if Callahan re-signs. As for MSL wanting to go to a winner....well nobody was picking NYR as a stanley cup finalist prior to the playoffs, give them credit as they got on a nice hot streak and had a lot of things break their way matchup wise but if he really wanted to go to a winner he probably wouldn't have picked NY.
Quite the murderer's row of goalies that NY went thru to get to the finals....Emery/Fleury/Togarski... |

Marty left on bad terms in Tampa... he gave no interviews but a few words to the local TV guy who staked out the airport all night for him. He has yet to really say anything or matter of fact actually address us the fans in Tampa other then a I hope they can forgive me as time goes on. The Captain on our team bailed on our team when he was really needed, we have a right to think the way we do.
His comments are hurtful to this fan base, he is not stupid so he knows that what he is saying will be construed the way it is with us Tampa fans, he knows how we will take it and he continues to say them so that shows us Tampa fans he never really cared for all the cheering and adoration we gave him. 14 years and a grand kick in the ass is what he gives us.
Its simple to me he needs to man the (frank) up and give us Lightning fans some kind of acknowledgement of what he really felt about us... no all we got its for personal reasons and I will leave it at that then comes all the current talk. Even if he said I love the fans but not ownership he would still be respected around here in Tampa in my opinion but we haven't even got that. |

Marty who? I don't know of anyone on the roster called Marty therefore I don't care. Time to move on |

Marty was jelous of the fact he wasn't getting attention because he was not in a big market city. He's been wanting the bright lights for quite some time. The NHL doesn't give us much love. When was the last time you saw Tampa featured in a rivalry series? Or asked to compete in a Winter Classic? Or a documentary on how a small market city like Tampa Bay has lit the Hockey world with not only a Stanley Cup but a great fan base, a great arena and great owners. I cant blame him for wanting more attention. Hell i want The Lightning to be given more attention. I want the invite to the Winter classic. i want The Rivalry series doc. But Marty left in absolute poor taste coming from a captain of a team in the midst of a playoff run. Marty's an awesome player, created awesome moments for us but his exit will not be forgotten. He abandoned his post for that he will not receive a heros welcome. |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these comments. He's a leader in their lockerroom, and he's instilling the idea that they are ready for the Cup in his teammates. The Rangers are far better equipped to be serious contenders than the Lightning. In my opinion, wanting a Cup contender is "personal reasons" if you're in a place that isn't going to be there. |

Veteran's get love only after they retire. You never want to see them happy in a different color jersey. |
