what i don't understand is why he said it was for personal reasons that were for his family and himself, which is fine, but as soon as he got there he started preaching about stanley cup this stanley cup that "This is what i envisioned when i came to NY" "This team was built for the playoffs and i felt i could add something" "Nothing like stanley cup in big market" ... what happened to the "personal reasons" that were suppose to just be "left at that" but quickly (1 day later) escalated into chasing a cup. I wouldn;t be surprised to see him in chicago / LA next year.

leave tampa, fine. for personal reasons, fine. and just "leave it at that", fine. but dont get to NY and start going off like an ass..after saying it was personal issues and just to leave it at that you get to NY and start preaching about stanley cups.the (frank) marTY?

no offense to any rangers fans, but i hope they get swept , embarassed. and then i hope the lightning win a cup before marty retires. (frank) yea. thats the dream

Like I said at the very bottom - This was about St. Louis getting to New York, and only about St. Louis getting to New York.

If (and that's still a big if) the Rangers lose, St. Louis won't have won anything more than the Lightning this season. Maybe there's a sense of sick satisfaction there.

I know that Bolt fans are a bit miffed at him going. So seeing him have any level of success stinks... I get it... Patrick Roy had a ton of success after demanding his way out of MTL.
Problem is... you have to expect him to talk up his new team. He's not going to sit back and say. "Yup. I would've been here with the Bolts too probably." For many reasons... but mainly because it makes it sound like HE is the reason they are there.
He is going to praise everything about the team. It will only sound 'off' if you are a TB fan.
Looking back to when Roy left MTL... I couldn't stand to watch him play for the AVS, seeing him win a cup. THAT HURT. Hopefully that is not the case for you this year with MSL.

Sometime, actually all the time, it's better to live in the present, he's gone, forget about him. Lot of nice pieces to discuss within the organization now.

Great piece.

Like I said in the last comment thread, never been fully "into" Marty. He's like that girlfriend that seems to be around forever, seems to do the right things, but whenever they open their mouth there's this weird subtext that seems to surround them.

Vinny, despite his declining play, LOVED Tampa; the franchise and the fans were his family.

Richards and Boyle were devastated by their respective trades, and the awful way they were run out of town.

Marty... noooooot so much.

Regardless, two 1st round draft picks and to get Marty his "holy land" and his gloomy downer butt out of town is fine by me. The Lightning are a team, and one hell of a young team. Cooper and Yzerman have created a culture of success and winning. Yes, it may be early, but from every single interview I've seen from guys like Stamkos, Hedman, Palat, Bishop and Johnson- they want to win the cup, and they want it with Tampa.

Great replacement for Salo. Boyle should never have been run out of town by the Cowboys in the first place. Futhermore, I have a nagging doubt that had Lawton been in actual charge at the time, it never would have happened.

I was hoping LA would destroy NY in the first 3 games and then Vigneault come out with a white flag in the 4th game.

To continue with your break-up metaphor: your ex isn't responsible for your feelings anymore. If you're taking it personally when they talk about being happy in a new relationship, stop creeping on their facebook and reading their posts. It's time for you to move on.

St. Louis didn't say anything about Tampa Bay in the quotes you brought up. You decided to take his happiness elsewhere as an insult to Tampa Bay. But that's your problem, not his. He handled the break up poorly, sure. But now that you are broken up, he doesn't owe you anything anymore.

So you're telling me that if the love of your life walked out on you, jumped in the bed with another person and then screams from the top of their lungs how awesome they are and how they have always love them, you wouldn't feel the slightest bit bitter or angry? Yeah, ok....

Honestly, what do you expect him to say. When his career is over you'll hear him say how much he loved playing in Tampa, but right now in the Finals....he's going to be talking about New York.
