I agree I was just going with the 3 year deal for everyone since so far that is what the Bolts are doing.

Killorn, Sustr, and possibly Brown will get more then 1 year deal. Brown can be a steal, he has offensive game that if it develops he will be a wrecking ball the way he skates and plays.

The length of the new contracts are very dependent on the age of the player we are re-signing. TJ and Palat got 3 year "bridge" type deals that still give the Bolts flexibility as they will remain RFA's when these new deals expire.

This is the original scouting report on Palat

Strengths:
All he does is score. Palat finished 4th in the QMJHL in scoring last season in his second year of Canadian junior hockey while playing on a line with 1st round pick Sean Couturier. Prior to coming to Drummondville, he was a big time scorer for the Vitkovice U20 and U18 junior teams, winning championships at both levels. He's been a fixture for the Czech Republic's World Junior Championships sides, as well, with a U18 Gold Medal in 2008. So, the Lightning gain a player with proven skill and finishing ability and a lot of experience.
Weaknesses:
The common knock on Palat is that he's more of a perimeter player and plays even smaller than he already is. At just 174 pounds, he has to get bigger and stronger to make it in professional hockey.
Projection:
The Lightning will have the option to immediately sign the 20 year old Palat, who was passed over in the 2009 and 2010 drafts, and place him in the AHL where he could join QMJHL leading scorer P.M. Devos and WHL scoring title runner-up Tyler Johnson. At a minimum, he should give the Lightning solid scoring depth in the minors.

PALAT!!!!!

Yes, he and Johnson have bridge deals that are worth a bit more than average, but these guys aren't coming out of their teens- they're a bit older, more mature (physically and mentally), play very strong two-way hockey, can handle all situations, put up points and have loads more pro-experience than most bridge contract deals.

Excellent signing.

Also, wow, Michael, this blog has almost 200 responses... I'm thinking that you're doing a damn good job of bringing the fun and intrigue of our little team to the masses!

Hell yes.

Guys like Killorn don't come along often. Great offensive compliment with grit, speed and determination. That, and he's proven to be a clutch player.

3 years, 2.5per is what I'm hoping for.
