I really hope we take Reinhardt. His passing ability is so important to a team that had trouble scoring. I like how Button talked about his ability to score goals because of his quick release. He may not be the best skater but that is why the Sabres hired Dawn Braid to help the team.
Keep up the good blogs Mike. |

good point on braid...devine has said the first thing they look while watching a prospect is skating...can they skate at the pro level...he said reinhart's skating is pro-level |

I said he reminded me of Krecji the other day.
I would hope he produces more as far as regular season goes |

he may be the type of player who won't come in with guns a blazin', but methodically ups his game as he goes...his junior point total may be a testament to that |

Id be fine with a Krecji type player. He has led the playoffs in scoring 2x. |

Take the guy with the top end skill (Reinhart) that is less reliant on working like a bulldog (Bennett) |

I would say Bennett has top end skill too. Reinhart is the safer pick.
Bennett also has top end speed which we desperately need |

Bennett has a butt-load of skill, but a different set of intangibles, which is why the "battle of sams" is intriguing |

Bennett IMO is a guy who's either gonna take over a game himself, or be ineffective.
Reinhart is the guy that will always be in the right place, make the smart play. I would love him to be a Krecji type player on the 2nd line if we were guaranteed one of Eichel McDavid next year |

No matter who Buffalo selects this year, Sabres fans should be happy. IMO, there are 8 guys that in 10 years we could be saying, "he should have been taken #1." This draft is a crap shoot, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, because it is a crap shoot, I would be trying to do what the Panthers are doing and trade down to the 4-8 spot. At 4, there is a really good chance that one of Bennett or Reinhart is still there. Go lower than that, and you might steal the most skilled player in the draft with Nylander, Ehlers or Virtanen. Plus by moving down not only could you still get the best player, but you would also get whatever extra the other team gives you. Worst case scenario IMO is that Buffalo stays at #2 and takes Draisaitl. Even that wouldn't be bad because he has some great tools and could one day be seen as the best player in this draft class.
At #2, Buffalo is in a win-win-win-win etc situation. The only way I can see them possibly screwing this up is if they trade down and take a stiff like Ritchie, but the odds of that are slim. |

If reinharts gone at one, we very well might take draisitl. I dont think murray will tip his hand in case somebody wants to make it worth our while to not take ekblad. Murray wants size. Might come down to whether draisitl and/or bennett projects as a center or winger in the long run for them. |

I disagree. Given the opportunity to take a highly skilled player or a consistent player, I think Buffalo needs the skill. |

it's doubtful they'll trade down...the top-three players are being discussed by the head scout...you never know, but am pretty sure they'll stay at 2 and pick who they consider the best player available |

We need more than one. Our top six forwards this year could very well be gone in 2 years. Theyre keeping the gang together for one more world tour because next years draft is stacked. We finished dead last in goals this year, at my most optimistic, I think in the very least, murray needs to surround who he keeps with lots of talent. |

We need both to be honest, we have lacked consistency for years and we need to improve there before we get better anywhere else. |
