Just a thought here , if Kesler has a NTC , even though he has given the Nucks a list of 6 teams he would go to , what if he pulls an IGGY and when it comes down to the crunch insists on it being the Hawks? - HawkfaninBC
It could come to that. Or the Canucks could just hold onto him. |

At what point does someone in management ask Sharp which he prefers, playing 2C here or playing anything somewhere else? I'm surprised they didn't do that a year or two ago. |

He did. - EKolb13
Joking aside, that's a taylor made Q/Bowman deal for the C spot. Q just loves the old grizzled vets. He would be a good fit here and Chicago is right there for another Cup march. Deep down I think Stanley is afraid to pull the trigger on a big deal. Dumping guys via trade for cap issues is one thing as he can write that off as he had no other choice. Trading a core guy or top prospect for another big time player?? Dunno, but he doesn't come across as a very aggressive GM. If anything, he will go back to the well and work with prior Hawks people. I'm sure the Canucks would trade Kesler to the Hawks if they offered a fair package in return. I have to think their new management would want to avoid the circus the whole thing would turn into if they held on to him.
My question is can Bowman pull a trade like this off? |

Thats what I keep saying.
If he has a ntc he either stays in Van or gets his wish of Hawks at the draft. If not then Van waits till the TDL to see if Kesler expands his actual list.

If I'm the Canucks GM, I get this done now. Vancouver is a mess and they need to calm things down. Gillis was a train wreck of a GM and left that team in shambles. (I feel bad, I really do)
Kesler obviously want out. With the draft coming very soon, now is the prime time to get something done. Might be a rough next two years for Vancouver hockey, but make the trade and re-load on picks/prospects. Miss the rivalry... the hatred.. Maybe Kesler coming here re-lights that fire?? |

It will probably come after the Kings win the Cup and before the draft ends. |

The Hawks get a 2nd line center. This puts Shaw and Kruger on their correct lines. Crawford's huge long contract that is now beginning will be gone. This frees up money to cover Kane and Toews plus add extra pieces. I hate long contracts for goalies, because they are like running backs in the NFL. Name the last long contract for a goalie that made sense the entire length of the contract? |

How much better is Toews than say Saad or Hossa at 1C? - John Jaeckel
Yeah. You're a little on the wrong side of hyperbole here, JJ. Kesler is a me first player. There is no way adding him in any scenario makes the Hawks better.
Shaw has put up damn near as many points as Kesler the last 2 years. Kesler is marginally better at FO. And Shaw is 7 years younger.
Can't see it. I think others are better fits. |

So, you think Miller is going to sign a 2 year deal for less money than Crawford? After signing Miller, you will right back where you are now. With a head case for a goalie and an aging selfish player in Kesler. |

CC is fine in net. He is solid and getting better every year. Team D sucked in the LA series. Miller is fruit loops and is no longer an elite goalie. 3 years ago? Sure. Now? No. He got traded to a darn good Blues team and did squat. I agree that CC's contract is a tad high, but in a year it will be a bargain. I have no issues with 50 manning the pipes. Raanta is no where near ready either. He needs a good year or 2 in Rockford. Labarbs is perfectly capable of being the back up.

Did you really put Ver-stink on the 3rd line?
Do you think he is worth a roster spot even though he costs us nothing? (Isn't FL still paying for him) - hockey nut 28
We should all pitch in to cover Versteegs ticket outa town...damn that guy is a train wreck. Every time he handled the puck I covered my eyes. |

I haven't seen any talk of Spezza on this board. Stan has done a little bit of Business with the Sens before. Is Spezza's remaining contract anything like Sharp's? |

I don't think Sharp alone brings you Tinordi AND Eller.
Eller stays with the Habs i would guess, as he is the only top 9 center with physicality. - soad_live
Sharp, Leddy and the Hawks 1st. The Habs would be crazy to get rid of Tinordi, Leddy would sure fit for the Habs. Hawks would settle for Beaulieu. |

$7 million for next season.
Unless the Sens want to eat half of his salary and trade him off for cheap, then I would think Spezza isn't a fit here. |

And what do the Leafs have of value for Sharp? JVR? Why would the Leafs make that deal? |
|
|

Anaheim will overpay? Doubtful. The Canucks won't get a better deal than was offered at the trade deadline from Anaheim. |
