Hawks are the only team post lockout to not win with a 1C-2C punch. And I would argue the first one, with Sharp at 2C, they were 4 deep down the middle (Toews, Sharp, Bolland, Madden) in addition to having one of the most talented teams assembled in the cap era.

Carolina had Staal and Brind'Amour
Ducks had Getzlaf and Niedermayer and Pahnsson and McDonald
Detroit had Datsyuk and Zberg and Franzen and Filluppa and Draper
Pitt had Crosby, Malkin and Staal
Baaastin had Krejci, Bergeron, Marchand, Horton
LA had Kopitar, Richards, Carter, Stoll (and still has them)
Chicago somehow won with Toews, Zeus, Shaw and Bolland

The Hawks have had a lot of turn over between the last two Cups, especially down the middle. Ummmm I feel like that is the surest way to win and the most demonstrated way. Clearly it can be done otherwise but in my opinion last year was more an outlier.

I'm alittle confused about your post. Didnt the bolded names play mostly wing at the time of their teams cup wins?

EDIT: unless you're just talking about depth?

I dunno Al. People complain about Keslers health but Spezza's isn't necessarily great. AND I kind of have an aversion to people who have had their back operated on. Watching Joe Crede diminish as a player was no bueno and Bolland, Dave fared worse aside from the two ring thing.

Agreed....BUT 1 YEAR ONLY..

Hawks may not be able to stand pat this summer. Competition is fierce big names could be in play around NHL. Fox Chgo:http://bit.ly/1oDBYHR

Perhaps questions came up as to why Q did not work on getting the young-ns more playing time as LA did. That regular season playing time coulda helped with roster adjustments in the playoffs. If they are going to push Q to change how he handles the roster it will become a mess. Q does his own thing. Period! Im sure Q will be against bumping a core guy to bring in FA/Rockford kid.

Will be interesting to see what the issue is.

Yeah, but I am behind because of a few weeks out of the office. Having a tough time getting motivated though, and wasting time on here.

How about that Nick Hjalmarsson? I (frank)ing love that guy....and he wears my favorite number too! Think I'm gonna get me a new #4 sweater. What y'all think? Should I break the trend and finally risk buying a white one?

Yes.

You should have both.

Wear them appropriately when the Hawks are at home or on the road.

I've got two reds and a winter classic, I've always been reluctant to drop coin on the oh so easily soiled white.

Oh...I do....I will say that Kruger has a LONG way to go to ever sniff Bolland's jock. Not writing off Kruger, but he needs to score. Faceoffs and PK are nice.....we saw that in Handzus. This team needs depth scoring, and the heir to the Lindros chair needs to score more in the playoffs.

As much as I despise Bolland, come playoff time....he was MONEY.

This team is really good. Only a few tweaks needed, BUT for the hell of it: I started thinking of evander Kane. I wonder what it would take: start with TT, Leddy, and a 1st. I think on a winning team with great leadership he would be fine. Then trade Sharp for a younger center. For guys like Anisimnov, schenn, or even Kadri. Other things would be included obviously

I don't like the idea, aesthetically, of having to see #88 running around with "P. Kane" on his back to differentiate him from "E. Kane"...what else you got?
