seriously?

lindholm would be on our top pair, and vatanan would easily slot into our top 4.

i get the possession thing, but when the rest of your resume is sub par..........

spezza is probably a top 15 center in this league, or close to it. you don't trade him for a package where the main piece is a 26 year old "good 3LC". perreault is likely as good now as he'll ever be, which is average at best.

i'm not opposed to a deal where he's part of the package, but he can't be the best asset coming back.

I didn't realize Lindholm shoots left. This would then make him the best target. I'm not sure they will move him though. Is Vatanen any better than Wiercioch? Too early to tell.

he might not be better than wiercioch, but he's still a more valuable asset than perreault.

ottawa, even losing spezza, has no need for perreault. we have turris, zibby, lazar, smith, pageau......all of whom i would be comfortable with in the NHL next year.

not saying i wouldn't take a good young center in a trade, but i'd probably want one who is either younger and/or better than perreault

less questions about injury.....but he is 5 years older. realistically, if you trade for spezza, you're likely getting 5-7 years of service out of him. if you get thornton, realistically, you're getting only 2-3.

i think their offensive production is pretty close.

spezza is younger, thornton is less injury prone.

i think thornton is worth more, but not much more.

edit: 4 years older.....thought he was turning 36. my point remains the same though.

i'm not sure why this is even a discussion, thornton will be a non-factor. i can't see SJ moving him, i can see him waiving his NTC even less.....and if he does, i'm willing to be that his list of teams is probably pretty damn short, like 1 team. i'm just assuming, but all the "experts" have been pretty confident in the fact that thornton is going anywhere, and if they move anyone, it's gonna be marleau.

I think it's going to be both, TBH. Check out this article.....if he can get them to waive they are goners...

I may be in the minority here, but I don't think we need Shattenkirk, and Berglund is having major surgery. Shats would be either playing his off side, or behind Karlsson. Weircioch is good enough for second pairing.

Shatty isnt a need ,but he would be nice too add.We can pair him up with Cowen on the second pair .Then move ceci down to the bottom pair gives him some insulation.my pairs would look like this.

Methot/ek

Cowen/Shat

Ceci/Phillips

everybody playing their correct side
