Which is? Thornton? Marleau? Eric Cole? Stastny? Ryan O'Riely? Of course this list is just rumors.
How is the cash situation in Music city? - Jeropotato
Those guys are certainly on the list. A few other viable free agent options out there as well. Not all are on the level of Jason Spezza, but could help fill a void. It's essentially figuring out what is best for a certain franchise.
No idea on the cash situation in Nashville, but I assume they will have to spend a little after letting Legwand go. |

I can't see the interest Jason Spezza being very high. At 7 million per year, if there was any term left other than one year, they would be talking compliance buyout about him. Between back problems, his age and diminishing numbers on ice, a team could trade for him and get very little in return for the 7 million that they have spent. I feel that only the desperate teams would be interested at all. All of the contending teams generally don't want to acquire a high risk player with a high salary as they are close to the cap anyway. He will not be traded until after the season starts as a contending team with an injury might be interested then and Ottawa has had a history of letting their big name trades turn ugly. - Woowy
yeah, that must be why the rangers, blues, and flames have all made offers for him......zero interest. |

i don't agree with what that guy posted, but just because a team is "interested" doesn't necessarily mean there is a good package on the table. The Sens were "interested" in signing Ales Hemsky and offered him a pretty laughable contract. The same thing happens in trades. Put an offer in and see how it flies. |

but, but, but.....he's from toronto, he's gonna sign there next year, he's said for years that he wants to play for the leafs..........
i wonder if the trolls are gonna show up now. |

if you make an offer, you obviously have pretty solid interest. the first offer is never the best offer, it's just a starting point.
there is gonna be a lot of interest in him. |

Legwand gone is a blessing. Calle Jarnkrok was better than Legwand in his first week with us. We've got Fisher, Jarnkrok, Cullen, and Gaustad starting down the middle if the season started tomorrow. We just need a real ##1. We've got the money, but as it has been correctly mentioned, we also have a small market unattractive stigma. |

But that's my point. At what point do these "interested" teams say that's too much and try to find a centre another way.
An offer is easy to make. I am sure there are a bull crap load of joke offers just to see if a GM bites. That's how so many rumours get started I'm sure. Doesn't mean a team will end up giving up a lot for a player. Which is what we want from a Sens standpoint. |

i think murray knows what realistic max value is, and once he gets that (which he will) he'll accept the trade.
the first offers from teams will always be fleece attempts, just to see if murray is having a "milbury" type of day.....just like if murray asked for a package, it would be too far the other way, then they'll meet in the middle.

With the players that Calgary proposed, there is no way they were interested because Ottawa would never take that much salary back in a Spezza deal. Calgary is mearly trying to convince Cammalleri that they are trying to be competitive so that he will resign. St. Louis would never trade for Spezza with Ken Hitchcock as head coach. The way Spezza plays defence would simply drive Hitchcock nuts! As far as the Rangers, they are trying to get out from dumb contracts all the time. I'm sure Richards is being offered to every team! |

i guess you know what the GMs (who are making trade offers) know more than they do.

i guess i could understand FLA , NSH, & NYI...but CLB? they're a team moving in the right direction with good upper management. That's puzzling - steponmytoe

You're talking out of your ass again, Ken Hitchcock has said that he wants Spezza on his team. Your statement has no backbone to support it. You're just trying to post nonsense. |

People saying Hitchcock and Spezza don't mix are out to lunch. Hitch has said that he thinks he can turn Spezza into the next Yzerman and has indicated that he feels Spezza has lacked coaching in the past. Hitchcock would be a huge advocate of a trade like this. |

hitchcock is actually a huge spezza fan and has stated in the past he would love him on his tea,m...health is a concern, but production has remained a pretty solid level even with injuries. Plus his cap hit may be 7mil next season, but I think its only 4mil is real money (someone correct me if im wrong there)
im not saying we will hit a home run with the return for him, but there will be solid interest and I think the deal that will be made will be a good return for the sens. |

Ken Hitchcock and his relationship with Brett Hull is all the evidence you need! There is Joe Thorton, Ryan Kesler, and Mike Richards all available. These are all more Hitchcock friendly players. With St. Louis trading their first round pick in the Ryan Miller trade, they will not be willing to trade young assets for a player with only one year left on his contract. Ottawa is currently looking like they are starting a rebuild anyways. Having lost Alfredson last year, Michalek and Hemsky being free agents this year, Spezza wanting out of town, rumours swirling that Bobby Ryan is available and Anderson being a free agent after next year...
I know Karlsson is a great defence man but the cupboards are getting a little bare! |

Spezza is an old dog! With only one year left on his contract turning him into Yzerman sounds like a stretch. Ottawa has tried several head coaches, sending him back to the minors (when he was a rookie) and he STILL does not play defence! |

St. Louis really is the perfect fit. They need some creativity in that lineup
Problem is, they have nothing to do offer that we should be interested in. Maybe Rattie and a 1st but the guys we should really be asking for (Schwartz or Shattenkirk), they wont (and rightly so) give up |
