I decided to have a look at some of the character, depth type of guys to see if you think there should be any interest in any of them.
I like our depth still as a team, but figuring cheaper options to Moen if he was traded. Or a bottom pairing right handed defenseman.
I got Daniel Carcillo, Jack Skille, Blair Jones, Brandon Yip at forward.
Right handed defensemen would be Mike Weaver, Michael Kostka or Deryk Engelland. |

For forwards, I don't think there is room for any more role guys like that. Eller, Bourque, Moen, Prust, White, Bournival the possible return of Gio will be our bottom 6 forwards. I still think we need a big, strong center capable of winning draws like a McClement but apart from that our bottom 6 forwards re pretty much complete.
On D, I woukld stay away from Kostka or Engellend until we know what Pateryn can do. Right now w have Subban, Gorges, Markov, Emelin as the top 4 and then Tinordi, Beaulieu, Pateryn for the bottom 2 pairing.
What I see it, what this team needs is a top 6 winger and a top 4 Dman, not role guys.

Pacioretty - DD - Gallagher
PAP - Plek - Bourque
Galchenyuk - Eller - Bournival
Moen - Weisse - Prust
No idea why they let White go as he is a good energy guy who can play d and makes nothing. Therrien just hates him though.
PK - Markov
Emelin - Beaulieu
Tinordi - Weaver
Patyrn/Bouillon
We could use a replacement for White since he wasn't offered a QO but I don't think anything else will change. Would be nice to upgrade Bournival but I'm not holding my breath for Iginla/Boyle/Kane |

I have a feeling Plekanec or Eller++ will be dealt for that missing top4 d and the Habs will sign a top-6 winger, à la Moulson. Galchenyuk moved at C.

I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened yet. I thought it would be for a winger though.
Unless they sign Boyle (both actually ) I think they should let Tinordi and Beaulieu have tons of minutes. This team's window is just starting to open, it's okay to take a step back next season for better long-term gains. |

One of the reasons Sekac signed in Montreal was because of Plekanec. Seriously doubt that he's traded at this point. But I would agree that Galchenyuk needs to play center so something has to give. |

Eller I guess.
Malholtra was the kind of depth move the OP was talking about.
Love the Gilbert signing. Hopefully Weaver will be 7th Dman |

Right now I am still guessing that galchenyuk is going to play wing.
If Habs can somehow get VrBata then we have a dangerous looking team.
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Parenteau
Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Vrbata
Bourque-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-Malhotra-Weise
Possibly fit in Sekac as well for an all Czech line?

If Sekac makes it in, Bourque is out IMO:

Sekac-Plekanec-Vrbata
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher

If Sekac is any good I could live with that.
My fear is that the Sekac sweepstakes work out like the Brunstumm sweepstakes. |

I still think that the odd Center extra must be DD... Plek would be a perfect
3rd line center. But then, PacMax would want to follow his Center... That would
hurt too much.
I do not trust that KHL kid, and I've read mix-reviews about him. |

I don't think Gilbert is better than Georges... So we got worst at D, not better.
(Ok, we saved money to give more to PK, but we're not better).
- I like Parenteau to replace Gio.
- I like Malhotra to replace White (which I'll start a thread about... Habs RUINED
that kid's career).

I wish he was odd man out, especially if Galchenyuk moves to C. However, I don't ever see him being moved...EVER!! LOL
If he is staying with Habs, I would love for him to be moved to wing, maybe a line of 67-27-51 eventually? |

I don't think DD is build for winger, it wouldn't last. With his points average and his salary, he should be easy to move. But then... PacMax wouldn't stay... |

If Gilbert, can make a first pass out of our zone then he is 10x better then Georges. |

Gorges had his role and played it perfectly. Emelin being a year removed from surgery should be better and takes the place of Gorges. Gilbert takes the place of the sack of excrement Emelin was last year.
Also, Sekac is a defensive forward so bottom 6, not top 6. |

He ranked second on his team in assists and points, and tied for second in goals.
Not bad for a defensive player. |

He supposedly won their version of the selke.
Also, and I know they only do 1 assist per goal, but his team sucked if his totals were second on the team. |

Moen needs to go
Bourque should be used as trade bait
Not sure I understand not signing White, or trading Gorges. Although I agree it is time to let the kids play.
Parentaeu, Gilbert, was a good sign
Not sold on Malholtra although for the price can't beat it
#67 will wear the C next year |
