Chiasson is a great young player to get, and Alex Guptill is a nice peace as well.
Not the worst haul, but lower salary cap had to have hurt his trade value to fit his 7m cap hit. |

Chiasson is a good piece to get, but should've held out for one of the recent 1st rounders. |

I like Chiasson. The rest of the package is pretty underwhelming. |

Would you guys rather have gotten Brassard + Prospect + 2nd? |

As per hockeys future for prospect ratings
Karlsonn 6.5 out of ten
Guptill 7 out of 10
Paul 6 out of 10

The other thing this does is release some money for Murray to use for free agents.
Maybe you also have to consider that anyone he adds today as part of that, as part of the return?
I don't know, I don't mind the return to be honest. I don't know much about the two prospects. 2nd round picks are not awful. Chiasson has the potential to be very good for Ottawa.
The return for Neal was worse. It's on par with Kesler. |

Ottawa will be better off, you need to get rid of guys who don't want to be on the team fast, drive him to the airport. Good sized prospects coming back the other way. |

Who the hell is going to sign there now? The team looks to be going into a rebuild. Any good UFA's are now thinking twice about signing there. |

I'm hoping so. Because the trade in and of itself is not a good one.
Perhaps he's going to use the money he has under the budget to sign a couple smart guys. I mean, I love the Pouliot idea, for one. |

Cammalleri time, you guys offered him a big deal the 1st time he hit UFA and went to Montreal.
MacArthur Turris Ryan
UFA Zibanejad Chiasson or UFA
Its not that bad on paper, young and interesting line up moving forward |

Jaysus. Having to explain this again....sigh....ok, here goes.
The rebuild for the Senators started 3 years ago when they unloaded Kelly and Fisher et al. Believe it or not, they're trending up. The roster is still very young, but they don't have a 'rebuild' in front of them. They have two old guys left on their roster, everyone else there is improving, and they're only one season removed from being a quarterfinalist. They had a bad year. Not a bad decade. They aren't the Oilers. |

So, they were rebuilding when they traded a futures package for Ryan? Then traded for Hemsky?
Come on man...that isn't rebuilding. The rebuild is restarting again. |

Sure....
Trade #1 center and the team is trending up. I don't even hear that stupid poop on the Oilers boards. |
