I have no problem being wrong. Its fun to think about though. It shouldn't take very much longer to find out. |

You are right, he didnt say 'big move', but look at the roster and look who Murray would have to move to make room for Ott, that other teams would be actually interested in. That would be Hodgson or Stewart, and I guess he said people have been calling about Foligno. Put two and two together... - Themomentgood
You should try and put two and two together. He basically said he's basically done with the Sabres roster and has shifted his focus to the Amerks. We just signed Gionta. We will have Kaleta and McCormick back next season. We honestly don't even need him. I'm sure Murray feels the same way. Unless Stewart or Hodgson are traded for picks no way they sign Ott. If anything happens it will be a minor move.
Why would Foligno be traded? The guy just resigned yesterday... |

It must be the rumored Hosge /Stew deal. Let's see where he takes us...he will need to slow down, he's putting the McEichel draft at risk now - IonSabres
I know especially with Islanders looking like an alright team next season. Hopefully no more moves to the Sabres lineup. |

Murray said multiple times in that interview he has been getting lots of calls for Foligno. All I was saying is that he is a roster player that other teams are interested in. I dont think he should trade anyone unless he gets a good haul for them. |

Edit: The quote I was refering to is towards the end, although in the very beginning he says something like depending on what he does today they might have room for Ott, which makes it seem like he has a deal lined up and is waiting to pull the trigger. - Themomentgood
I dont know, the way I took that "today" was that he was using it as a royal "today" as if anything changes we would be interested.
Plus in my opinion if he was close to getting something done, and really wanted Ott, he would pull trigger on Ott, before he goes somewhere else and then execute the trade. |

The signing of Gionta makes Ott irrelevant. He's not needed. |

He's definitely putting his name in the hat, but Chicago, LA, and Anaheim are still better. |

I agree, unless he trades away salary and needs to replace it. Even then though, he would either need to grossly overpay Ott or sign another player or plan on spending Reinharts salary (or someone from Rochester). |

My guess is that if Murray really wants to play the "high draft pick for taking on awful salary" game, he's going to have to throw one of Stewart or Hodgson with it (preferably Stewart). The idea sounded nice when Murray trotted it out a couple of weeks ago, but it doesn't sound like too many other GMs agree. |

Unless it's in a package for a proven young NHL player he'd be stupid to.
I get it if he isn't a Hodgson fan or Stewart fan, but he shouldn't be trading guys while their value is low. - sbroads24

Okay, as someone who doesn't want to the see the Sabres lay down for a lottery pick, let me ask you this: for all the supposed "leadership" that Ott brings, why is it that his teams throughout his career are either terrible or fall short (see Dallas and St. Louis)? |

Where in that did I say that Ott was at fault? I simply questioned whether what he brings to the table is really enough to make a difference.
There's a massive difference between the two. |

Disagree
Ott brings a grittier style, a < $3M pricetag and is three years younger. |

Old Ott story....apparently before his WJHC tournament he prepared by learning how to say "(frank) you", "female genitalia" and some homophobic slurs in Finish, Swedish and Russian. I give him respect for that kind of commitment. |

Maybe you're not wrong. In an interview on WGR he hinted at something about a trade yet to go down and cut it short. Didn't want to get into detail. I doubt Foligno is involved. |

So because you think Ott is not a leader and his so called teams were bad, he shouldn't be here and will do nothing for this team because we have Gionta? who plays a totally different game then Ott. I'll take Ott all day long over Stewart, Stewart is no leader but Ott is. |
