Ya I was pretty pissed. We should have been done after the signing of Gionta IMO. Hopefully we suck donkey balls next season. We have a nice pool of youngsters but to be honest half of them won't even pan out. So getting McDavid or Eichel in next season's draft could very well make or break this rebuild IMO. And we would be looking at another rebuild 4-5 years down the road.

Just saw this. It was on a radio interview so not sure if he means Ottawa looking to trade with us for a center or if were both looking for centers.. the latter seems a bit of a head scratcher for us.. unless its for AHL

In a sign of the faith that players are beginning to have in what's happening Buffalo, Gorges balked at a pitch from Toronto, to join the Sabres.

Gorges rejected a trade to the Leafs as they were not on his list of 15 teams he would accept a trade to.
After rejecting it... the team asked him to expand his list. He added Buffalo and a few others. They THEN made the deal with Buffalo.

Regardless... you got a hell of a team player in Gorges. I, personally, think it's a huge mistake letting him go.

There is a thing called a cap floor you know... Even after spending 20MM they are still just above it. Trade one player and they are back below it.

Problem is they are going to have to clear cap space form the big deal Subban is going to ask for . Should treated him a little better in Last negotiation.

Idk honestly- I mean we can't bank our future success on one player. If we get McDavid it would be great- but for one am certainly not planning on it. Regardless we have three first round picks in a strong draft, and add that on top of all the young prospects we have accumulated in the last couple of years. I think we will have ourselves a pretty solid core with or without McDavid.

As far as us being out of the McDavid sweepstakes I am not so sure about that. Georges and Gionta are good leaders for the kids but how many points is an aging Gionta really going to score. Or better yet how many games is he going to win us? Add in Moulson who was already here last year. Maybe I am wrong? But I don't see us winning that many more games next year.

Wang just needs to sell and snow needs to go. its getting that bad. We have now seen first hand what having a good mgmt structure can do for an organization. This would have never happened with Darcy. Players avoided him, this area

garth could have given buffalo this years 1st and still would of had a 1st in 2014 and in 2015. now he has to go 2015 without a pick till late 2nd or 3d round. I don't think that was a smart move. been saying this for awhile that the island should have just walked away from this years pick. free agency historically has not been kind to that team. no reason to believe that it would change this year.
