If you want the first or second pick, yes.
Settle down. - RDRoach16
I think people are overvaluing how much contributing he will do and how bad this team was last year.
Crosby had 100+ points his first year. Team still finished at the bottom.
Should Pitt have sent Crosby back to juniors because he was "Helping them compete" |

I'd offer sheet Johansen and then you don't need McDavid or Eichel.
Of course they'd match. - RDRoach16
While Johansen is good, he's not on their level IMO.
He tops out in the 75-80 point range. If they work out a deal like say the Islanders, St louis, and our 2016 1st. Maybe I'd think about it but 4 years without a 1st would suck. |

So you are Willing to trade 4 1sr rd picks for Ryan Johansen? One being in the 2015 draft. Then want to send Reinhart back to juniors to ensure a first or second overall pick. Which you just send to CBJ for Johansen...

If your belief is that this team is finishing in the 6-10th range as is, it's definitely worth it.

Hurricane off the coast....I'm not allowed to go away on my own anymore.
February I came up here twice - both times SC got some bad ice storms.
Last year I came up and there were tornados hitting around where I live
I'm a curse. |

They went from 58 points to 105 points the next season with Crosby, Malkin, and Staal.
Had Mario not been a shell and Malkin able to come over in 05/06 they'd of had way more than 58 points.
They had assets but couldn't use them. |

Yes. Reinhart is now our property. It is now in the organizations best interest to make him the best he can be. If that is him being here helping this team, so be it.
McDavid is not our property and may never be, even if we do finish last.
Add - Reinhart is said to be NHL ready while Armia is not. You would be killing the development of 2 prospects for a chance to get one. Having the best doesn't mean you win, see Crosby, Sidney. - ImThatGuy
Couple things here;
-Why would sending Reinhart to jr's "kill his development"? 99.9% of the prospects drafted return to juniors, every draft. This is the norm.
-Finish in last this yr, and you absolutely are garunteed either Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel, because by rule you can only drop one slot (if you lose the lottery next yr). You need to go research Jack Eichel now, because some say he could be even better than McDavid (Eichel is bigger, stronger, & is more of a "goal scorer" than the speedy playmaker McDavid).
-Having the best is def a good place to start regarding winning as well. You diss Crosby & the Pens, tho they have won a Cup & have a stellar win% ? That is a "winning" organization. Nobody goes undefeated in this league. |

It's not.
No 1st for 4 years limits deadline options to acquire assets for cup runs. |

Reinhart in Jrs is fine by me, as long as he doesn't get Richarded around like Grigorenko did.
Armia needs to stay in Rochester at LEAST half the season. I like the other poster's suggestion of Adam up though. |

Even if doing so results in us getting McEichel?
Gotta look at the big picture and not forget the plan. Finishing last next yr has been the plan for over a yr now. Currently, we're halfway there with a realistic look at it.
Im ok with:
-Reinhart to jr's
-Trade Staff & Stewart
-Call up: Adam, Armia, & Deslauries to fill their spots.
(Prob shave 50 goals off our team totals right there) - SuperCat
Not even close.
Let's also remember that the Sabres themselves, as much as we know it's a good idea to tank one more year, are still going to try and ice the best roster without forcing kids to play when they're not 100% ready. |

I see Columbus as the farthest away. Great goalie.. solid defense.. but that offense will be up in the air. They have kids but don't have vets it seems.
Florida is a joke on defense too. They better hope Ekblad is locked and ready to go.. Campbell already requested a trade and Willie Mitchell is not the answer.
I still don't like it that they gave up on Markstrom in favor of an aging Luongo. Seems like a big step back. - JVince11
Markstrom took a step back. He seems like a goalie who will never win in the NHL. Other then AHL success he's got nothing to show for his time in Van or Florida. Thatcher Demko is the Canucks future goalie.
Columbus has an awesome offense. Johansen is unbelievable. They have Horton and now they'll have Hartnell as well. They'll be like a Bruins team IMO. Tough to play against with everyone on offense chipping in.
Do you have a link to where Campbell requested a trade? I don't remember him saying anything like that. They are not a joke on defense. They have a good goalie in Luongo to help the lapses of a solid young D core. |
