he also didn't anticipate pronger getting hurt, so maybe the idea of continuing to be competitive sooner wasn't as shocking as the way in which they were able to do it

Not me; think they need to shed a contract or two, but they already have enough pieces in the system to build upon. Just need to be patient and see if the defensemen develop
