I thought Carter was going to get the illustrious MVP, not Williams.
I don't disagree with Williams, but Carter is clutch. It's not always about getting the clutch goals like Williams, does, it's where to be, what to do and what to say to teammates.
I like Carter as Captain of the Kings instead of Brown.
Just my humble opinion. |

I don't agree with giving him the C. If it ain't broke don't fix it. But if someone was to get it I would go with Doughty. Really the only team in the league that you can hand out 10 "C" patches. But let's get to carter, this guy is beast. When he kicks on the jets, usually good things happen. Can we start the season already? |

In the most basic of ways, it's how effective you are on the ice in terms of scoring chances allowed vs. created. If you are a negative, you are on the ice for more against than for over the course of 60 minutes and vice versa if you are positive.
A lot can play into these like zone starts, quality of competition, etc. etc.
The world of advanced stats can be both intimidating and interesting...and sometimes rather meaningless. |

That he had a reputation as a loafer and sour attitude on the Flyers amazes me. He is one of those guys in sports that plays with such confidence that he looks too relaxed when on the ice. He is such an underrated defensive player, too. He is really economic with his positioning and uses his reach to disrupt the opposition's options in the offensive zone. His switch to 2C was the key to the Cup IMO.
"A" for me, for sure. |

Frankly his rep was undeserved. There were a vocal minority of Flyers fans who saw a guy with speed and size who didn't run opposing players through a wall on every shift. What those of us who liked him saw, was a solid two way forward who could play in all situations. A guy who could score goals but who had the size, speed, and defensive responsibility to be put out against other teams top players.
When the trades went down those many moons ago it was Carter I wish they had kept over Richards if I had to chose. Though I cant argue with the return of Voracek and Couturier. So all parties made out in my opinion.

That is my question on the awarding of the Conn Smythe. When Bettman awarded it, he said 'Most points in the Finals' so is it based on the Finals alone? Not saying Williams wasn't deserving because he was clutch the entire playoffs but that statement just has me wondering since it could have gone to Williams, Carter, Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, etc. Hell, you could even make a case for Martinez.
Anyway, Carter gets a solid A from me |

The reputation came from just plain uninformed sources, or from a bias that was undeserved. Carter is simply a really good player. |

Couturier is a player man. Voracek I wasn't sold on until last season when he stepped up big time.
I'd say the Flyers made out alright. Schenn/Simmonds/Couturier/Voracek |

Doughty for Captain?? That's ridiculous!
He still has a lot of growing up to do before that ever happens~ |

He has all the makings of a captain. Confident, isn't afraid to speak up, total team player, and leads by example. So not that ridiculous! |

Once he matures a little more I agree he would be a great captain but for now, he still lets his emotions get the best of him and takes it out on the refs too often. |

I think he could wear a C someday, just not any time soon. As long as the Kings have guys like Kopitar, Carter, or even Richards, I don't see it happening. |
