Again I agree whole heartedly. We are just dealing from the hand Shero dealt us. We could always go after a "lesser" younger guy like Coyle/Nyquist/Tatar/Smith-Pelly/etc....but they come at a premium due to age/salary/upside. Kane is a little different because hes young and established. - YouMeAndDupuis9
See I like that much better than a vet. We have vets. Young talent we do not. A bit of a gamble going for those guys since they aren't established, but we have prospects to spare and Sutter is expendable. If we can get a package going I'd pay that premium. We have to pay that premium. Shero left us no choice.
If we could get O'Reilly and only pay him around 6 mil, I'd pull that trigger in a heart beat. |

I like how Cup wins is a measuring stat for how great a player is on a nightly basis. By that logic:
Kevin Lowe (6) is better than Ray Bourque (1) and Bobby Orr (2)
Craig Adams (2) is better than Sidney Crosby (1)
Marc-Andre Fleury (1) is better than Henrik Lundqvist (0) and Carey Price (0) - Ben37
AMEN!!!You are so right. All I've heard the last two days is well, Toews and Kane have won two Cups that's why they deserve and got 10.5M a year for eight years. I guess them being on a real balance team with a great supporting cast had nothing to do with it? I'm sure Chicago would have won the Cup in 2013 with Toews scoring just one goal in 20 playoff games without great people around him.

I'd look at Perron too as a young solid top 6 guy who is reasonably priced. |

I've never said Crosby wasn't better then Kopitar offensively! Complete package? I would take Kopitar . Kopitar is better then Malkin, no question! - arh777
Is this serious, because it is hilarious.
There is no denying Kopitar is an excellent player but come on bro. Maybe argue Getzlaf vs Kopi or Giroux Vs Kopi. At least someone in the same stratosphere.
If my prediction on the Pens is accurate, Geno will slide up to Sids wings. Then lets see if he can touch either of their production. The 20 or 30 points he demolished Kopi this year will look like peanuts.
That said, give me the Kings TEAM all day everyday over the Penguins current roster. But Sid vs Anze, its a laughable comparison.

Definately is a good price. He could easily be A top 6 winger for the next 7 years or so. His game would mesh well with either Sid or geno. Fast player, nice shot, and isn't afraid to hit |

Reasonable cap hit for the next few years too. I'd still be more for buying low on Yakupov if we're gonna get in bed with the Oilers. May be hardish to keep him though, but if the cap's suppose to spike as much as projected and with all of our cap next year, a 4 or so mil contract (after the bounce back year he would definitely have) would be manageable. |

I am very glad for all the newer people. lets ge that out of the way. so, when making trade suggestions, please try not to be like the oilers fans etc. who highly over value their own players and undervalue other teams players. i.e. sutter, a couple prospects and a pick is not going to get an evander kane. baeu bennett and a 1st isnt going to get you a kane. martin + a pick wont get you a kane. so forth and so on. if the deal doesnt appear to weigh in favor of the other team it probably would never happen. |

Honestly, I end up going too much the other way. People keep saying I overpay for players haha. To be fair Sutter, Pouliot, and a 1st would be very close to a fair deal for Kane. But I get your point. |

Man, Yaks could be really exciting next to 87 or 71. Whats your realistic package for Yaks that the Oilers would want and accept?
Perron is the sure thing at a decent price
versus
Yaks is the boom or bust that could cost a ton in both assets and money down the road...
I go for the value pick but I wouldn't complain either way. |

I think since yaks hasn't proved much, he could be had with a high round pick and good prospect. Pouliot and 2nd, or despres and 1st. If I'm the oilers GM, I would find it hard to make an argument for why you should get more. Yaks is obviously no mackinnon |

I really don't know. It could go either way how much Ed would want for him. On the one hand, he's a first overall that still has a super high ceiling so they may want another kings' ransom. Maybe not as absurd as it would take to get Kane, but still high.
On the other hand, despite them saying all the right things, it seems like the organization is very low on Yak, and he is starting to look like one of the biggest busts in recent memory, so the Oilers may accept a moderate deal while he still has some value.
So what do they need? Defense for sure. Apart from Shultz and a pretty average Nikitan who do they have? Unfortunately, Martin probably wouldn't waive his NTC to go there, and he's sure as hell not enough to get Yak on his own anyways even if he had a longer contract. A prospect with a high ceiling may do the trick though. They'd probably ask for either Dumo or Puliot +. They need help down the middle as well, so enter the obligatory give them Sutter pitch.
Would a package of Dumo and Sutter and a pick work? Probably no, but that's the highest I'm willing to go. I love Yak, but I'd only trade for him if we're buying low and capitalizing on Edmonton wanting to rid themselves of what they think is a bust. |

Ideally we send them Despres, as I think he's our most expendable good prospect, but I guarantee that they ask for Flat Stanley in any deal. They need centers bad. My ideal trade would be Sutter, Despres, and a third, but I don't think Ed swings that. |

doubt sutter pouliot and a 1st gets it done. it might be fair, but with 4 years left on his deal the jets hold the cards... maybe, maybe Bennett, pouliot, and a 1st gets it done.... actually I might go for that. |

What part of "Crosby is better then Kopitar offensively" didn't you understand?? I would give up offense to have a great defensive 200 ft player on my team because in order to have a great team IMO, you must roll 4 lines and have balanced scoring with sick defense. The Kings have that and thus 2 Cups in 3 years! |

so you are telling me, if you had to pick one player to start a franchise with...you would take Kopitar over Crosby? Its a simple question. Do you think Kopitar could handle being the savior of the NHL, the face of the NHL? I am just saying that comes with a lot of pressure. |

I love crosby the player (with exception of last year) but he is in no way the "savior" of the nhl. and it is unfortunate that the league made him the face. there are many other players equally as important to the game, such as toews, tavares, stamkos, subban, kopitar, etc. now crosby is the best most of the time. in fact, the only player better than crosby ever is malkin when he decides to be... he just chooses not to be most of the year. |

I'd love to see their carreer numbers here. Points total, goals scored, +/-...all three of them: Crosby, Malkin and Kopitar. I really like Kopitar but wouldn't take him before Sid or Geno. |

Wise words Chris. You must be a good eastern Canada guy..
Crosby was horrible last playoffs...I mean horrible. I'm sure he'll be better next time. |

We In the west don't look at Crosby as the savior of the NHL. Kopitar should have won the Selke in my opinion but East coast bias won out. Yes, again it's not a wrap on Crosby. He's a phenomenal player. |

This east coast bias excuse is getting stale. I hate to tell you that. Kopitar is a great player too, but I laugh every time the east coast bias excuse comes out regarding college football, or this type of stuff.

Yaks is a moody player. Tremendous talent, but there is something about him that is a huge turn-off. Pass on him. Let him continue to underachieve in Edmonton. |

So, Pittsburgh gets eliminated May 13 which is essentially two months ago and we have no resolution on this wrist problem of Sid's. What seems to be the problem? Is it the "medical group"? Someone needs to be blamed if he does miss some of the season. A two month delay is a joke really with no resolution. It's not like this happened 10 days ago, but almost 40 days ago. |

That's certainly about the best we could offer without overpaying. Adding Bennett to get it done improves the team but then we still have a top 6 hole....tricky situation. |
