Wrong player to go after. Eberle and Perron are better choices IMO. - Orpik44
I have zero desire to see Yakupov here either. I like Eberle alot. Perron, my only issue, his injury resume is pretty significant. |

doubt sutter pouliot and a 1st gets it done. it might be fair, but with 4 years left on his deal the jets hold the cards... maybe, maybe Bennett, pouliot, and a 1st gets it done.... actually I might go for that. - ChrisMS
He is not worth pursuing. The cost would be pretty substantial and you get what exactly - a talented kid that has problems. Don't give up quality assets for a problem child. |

On the other hand I'd give a try with Evander Kane. His upside is too high. His problems are with the city of Winnipeg. I bet He'd do fine with the Steelers way of life. |

JR traded away one top 6 winger who had baggage. I am hard pressed to believe he trades for another top 6 winger with arguable more issues. He also has a higher salary (albeit only $250,000 more) more than Neal so at which point I would of just kept Neal.
Not that Kane is a bad hockey player, I just believe we can find an alternative solution from a team that won't be asking for a kings ransom in return. Ex) Target an older player, Marleau comes to mind depending on the the Sharks demands. - penguins-4-life
That baggage you talk about is not on the ice, and to be honest I think it is being overblown.
Neal's on ice performance is what got him shipped out, his undisciplined play and lack of non Malkin production burnt him. |

I'm in the camp that if we could buy low on Yaks, you do it. Should be careful with overpaying because he has some red flags.
Eberle and Perron are good choices as well. The big appeal with Yaks in the short team is he comes on his ELC and has that electrifying talent that could reach his potential with 87 or 71. Eberle is locked up for a while at $6M which will be fine over the long haul but tight with the cap in the short term. Perron is the least upside but best overall value. |

Quit giving excuses to the kid. He has issues.

It would take a lot more than Evander Kane for me (and likely the Penguins) to give up Pouliot. |

Why? He's late to practice once? He took a picture using money as a phone? Unless he's doing heroin I dont care.
All I care about is he would play his heart out in a playoff series and be a 40 goal scorer here. Plus provide protection for Sid. |

I don't think he has issues. I think he wants attention, and I think he's a me-first player. Those things aren't always bad, but the FO has made it clear that they want to re-build the locker room as much as they want to rebuild the forward lines.
They're not trading for Kane, so none of it matters. |

This is what I've been saying. If you're gonna trade with Edmonton, Yak should be your first priority, but only pull the trigger if you're buying low.
Coincidently, I believe Yakupov is the player in Ed's young core that they see as the most expendable. |

I agree for know... maybe if he is available at deadline and he might be the missing piece. best to go after one more leftover, penner/whintey/seto, at a 1 year deal and see whats up during the season |

Wasn't it rumored that the Pens checked in on a Neal for Kane trade and Peg wanted more? If that's the case, the price is ridiculous anyway. |

I'd want more if I was Win. Kane is a better player and has a much higher ceiling. I would have done a Neal + prospect(s) in a heart beat. Neal for Kane straight up would have been a fleecing. |

The only unfortunate part is that Edmonton is not interested in our most expendable asset in Martin. We couldn't get Eberle without clearing significant cap space, aka Martin. Yaks is the one we could afford easy. |

I like the idea of the Penguins targeting David Perron, but I don't think the Oilers are even close to dealing him at this moment. They loved him last season. He was their most consistent forward throughout the season. I think they are going to run with Hall, RNH, Eberle, Perron, Leo D, and Yak in the top 6. |

How has he proven he is better player? Neal has been damn near a point per game player the last three years. Kane not so much. |

Whats your point?? The best two way players in the NHL is probably Jonathon Towes and then Kopitar. Kopitar plays in a defense first system cutting down his goals scored. |

They were always the logical trade partner....tons of young forwards and we have tons of young D. Never know. |
