Which is why O'Reilly while a good player is talked about like he is some super star. He is turning into one of the most overrated players in the league at least on these boards. He is a good player. A player I would like to have but he is nothing more than a 2nd line center on a good team IMO.

He is not overated. He is a good goal scorer. Not elite. But a few years ago he led the league in steals I think. He is as good at the backend as he is in the front. He is a second line center but with a minute to go he is the guy taking the draw. When u have a guy that scores and is the the guy on the ice at the last minute is rare and is tough to play againt. Would love to have that guy on my team to play behind that number 1. In the playoffs those are the guys that are MVP. Plus he cant suck if teammates knick name is the factor......

Kane and Toews are at least a step above O'Reilly. The problem with O'Reilly isn't that he's trying to get max value. The problem is that he's holding out for more than he's worth.

Jordan Eberle has similar stats...would you give up the assets that Colorado would want for O'Reilly for Eberle? Because I sure as hell wouldn't.

He is a second line center that's it. Nothing more nothing less. A good player yes but not someone people on here say you can build a team around. Also if he was such a "factor" why didn't the Avs get out of the first round this season? Don't give me that inexperience excuse either. If you are "The Factor" it shouldn't matter.

Those two have 2 cups and have proved themselves . O'Reilly is not close yet . Good player but greedy. He overvalues himself . No one asking him to take home town discount . Take a reasonable deal based on what other team mates are getting . Team will not pay him more than Duchene.
