First!!!

And SAFE!!!

Edit: Sorry Timmy check again.... Jeff Woywitka, 27th overall in 01, never played an NHL game until '05. Yeah we traded him in 04, but still 2 classes after.

Steve downie played 32 games in 07-08 after being drafted in 05.

Claude Giroux played in 08-09 after being drafted in 06....

Should I continue?

I don't see an issue with Laughton playing in the AHL. He will obviously play more key minutes as a pro playing top 6 minutes as opposed to bottom 6 or fourth line center.

We all want these first rounders to play as soon as possible but in reality a 1-3 year stint in the AHL will make these young guys attain their maximum potential. Example Detroit with Nyquist, Tatar, and many more. When they dominate the AHL you know they are ready, ie. Logan Couture a good example. All I can say is Berube better find a way to put Couter14 in a scoring role soon or that offense will never come and he will be in the Jordan Staal category which is not bad but Couter has a big offensive side waiting to happen.

Much ado about nothing. It's called development. Some people refer to it as seasoning. Never can have too much. You know that Pietrangelo guy on STL? He's the golden boy for drafting and developing.

If there's not a spot for Laughton, or the Flyers feel he's better served in the A, who cares? Same with Ghost.

I've been pushing the idea that the Flyers need to take a chance on ONE of their young defensive studs and allow them to develop in the NHL this season regardless. I feel the FLyers need more youth, more speed and agility on the back end. That lack of such showed again in the playoffs last spring.

Yet my discussions with Berube, GM Ron Hextall and scout guru Chris Pryor have convinced me that nothing short of one of these kids (including Sam Morin and Robert Hagg ) imposing a tsunami of talent to wash out every one else, will allow that to happen.

have you tried explaining to these nobodies that you're tim panaccio?

Ya we've all seen how those go lol.

But once again the Philadelphia media is pushing to rush prospects in faint hope of getting a cup now. Just ask Edmonton and Nail Yakupov how that worked out.

Thankfully Hextall and Berube don't take pointers from Tim Panaccio.

Why would the Flyers bring him up if he just going to be the 4th line center? It'd be better for him to get playing time in the AHL

"I've been pushing the idea that the Flyers need to take a chance on ONE of their young defensive studs and allow them to develop in the NHL this season regardless." Do you mean to tell me that the front office isn't taking your advice. That's outrageous.

Obviously... who wouldn't want that? But he reality of the matter is, the Flyers don't have anyone ready to step in and fill that void yet. And I'm fine with that. I would rather have a solid, young Dman a year or two down the road than to rush one in now, when they aren't going to win the cup, "just because". Give them time to develop... no harm in waiting until the coaches feel they're ready. But there is harm in rushing a kid in to play NHL hockey when he isn't ready.

Unless one of the Flyers prospects, be it Sam Morin or Scott Laughton, blows the doors off and shows that there is no way he shouldn't be on the Flyers, they should start the season in the AHL or juniors, depending on eligibility for the AHL, of course.

By this I mean I don't want Laughton or one of the young defensemen to make it because they are the 6th best defenseman or the 12th best forward in camp. I want them to earn a spot by being one of the 7 or 8 best forwards or one of the 4 best defensemen. Kick the door down, don't just slide through it.

If a kid sticks as a 12th forward or 6th defenseman, they're not going to get the ice time to develop. None of the Flyers top prospects has played more than a handful of games as a pro. Expand that to even the mid tier guys in their system and it only gives them a few more(Alt, Cousins, Alderson) who have more than a handful of games in professional hockey.

Hextall saw first hand what proper development is in LA. Good teams that continually find good youngsters from their own systems don't rush guys, or trade them away after initial struggles.

that's because Tim needs someone that he can pick on to make himself feel good.Who better than a 18-20 year old rookie that gets thrown into the fire when they're not ready.

Hey Tim, did the flyers take your advice on that sit down idea, or was the article pulled too quickly for Hextall et al to get the memo?

the question is, why are YOU pushing anything?

there's a new sheriff in town, and he has a plan. it's called drafting and developing wisely, and wisely often means slowly. i know that's a difficult concept to comprehend, but just go with it.

you should have zero agenda other than to cover the team and report on what's happening. again, another difficult concept to understand, but try, for once, not to inject yourself into the narrative and fabric of the team, and let them just go out and do their thing.
