go with letang and maf for price

you get a solid skilled dman and a hot young goalie for a chain smoking, dog losing pain in the ass

You forgot "cai-yoat killin"

So trade a young 39 goal scorer who has not even reached his full potential for a 35yo who is on a decline and who's contract is not that great?

Sure Tinordi in the deal if we get Letang, but come on....

- l3ig_l2ecl

Letang>Tinordi
Pacioretty>Dupuis
I think the difference separating both cancel each other out. It's funny, last year a lot of people wanted to get rid of Pacioretty at the beginning of the year but now he has suddenly become invaluable . What would you want for Subban if you think Letang is not worth this? Letang and Pacioretty were obviously the main pieces of the trade, why you decided to turn it into Dupuis for Pacioretty is perplexing

Nothing Pitts would offer. Subban isn't going anywhere just yet and if Montreal trades him because of contract problems, it won't be to an eastern rival, that's for sure.

Stop wetting your shorts, this rumor is about as valid as the Pope's upcoming marriage.

The good news for Ek is Letang had to list 14 other teams where he'd accept a deal. Plenty of good "rumors" can come from that. Just need to get you're hands on that list.

Wasn't tallking about the Penguins wanting him , was only asking what he thinks Montreal would want from other teams. I heard Evander Kane thrown around. If there is no truth to this rumor, why did you even waste your time reading and posting? I myself don't think the Penguins should trade Letang after losing Niskanen, but if it were to happen thats what I would want back.

Lol -- I'm not saying whoever proposed this trade was a fair one...but you made a terrible example of isolating the worst players in the deal with the best players in the deal. Of course Patches is better than Dupuis...of course Letang is better than Tinordi.

More like Patches and Letang are about a wash, I'd personally give a slight edge to Letang. Tindori would have more value than Dupuis at his age. Again, not saying I agree with the deal, but your comparisons were quite....um, obvious

Each day for the next 14 days he will have a rumor about Letang and each of the remaining 14 teams. Gonna be a busy week!

Mtl loves to help other teams out of bad contracts. Remember the Gomez trade involving McDonagh. Ouch.

Shall we look at the trades from the islanders in the last 20 years...

You guys probably traded away 2-3 stanley cups...

Just from the top of my head : Luongo, Spezza, Chara....

You realize he's only played 2 season right?

If I were Montreal, I wouldn't trade Gallagher + Pacioretty for Letang. Too much potential to give up and does nothing to address the requirements for the Habs.

exactly, we are not saying that :

Gallagher is > than letang

Just that gallagher AND Paccio > Letang[/img]

Let me ask this to MTL fans -- What would you expect as a reasonable trade return if you were trading PK Subban and he was locked up for 8 years at $7M. Yes, yes, I know Letang has health concerns...but start the discussions with the type of package you would want for Subban and then go from there.

I read Ekland in order to find out what's NOT gonna happen. I have to laugh at all the silly little rumours this guy reports on that don't pan out. When a move does happen and I come back here he's never had anything beforehand on it. Ekland is laughed at by the mainstream media and never gets asked to come on any broadcasts. Doesn't anybody wonder why???

Subban is a better all round D than Letang. Letang is more like Coffey and Subban more like Bourque.

That being said, neither are going anywhere.

What drugs are you on. Pacirotetty for Letang are a wash? Pacioretty's cap hit is 4.5 million, while Letang is 7.25 million. I also say Pacioretty is more valueable has a player regardless of salary. If the pens want him, they would have to give him Letang, and a 1st round pick, and maybe more.

Penguins have to nothing to offer Montreal for Subban. Only 2 guys I would take for him on pens is Crosby & Malkin. No one else.

I wasn't talking specifically penguins players.

Letang is not as good as Subban but it's much closer than the MTL homers think. But the point is obvious....you would expect Crosby or Malkin for Subban. So would you have taken James Neal (equivalent to Patches) straight up for Subban? Hell no. That's my point. We shouldn't take Patches straight up for Letang. You guys are way undervaluing Letang, IMO.

Again I ask -- give me a general package you would want for Subban with the added bonus he was locked up for 8 years at $7M. Once you tell me that, then I will adjust your package to make it the equivalent of Letang's value (subtracting for health concerns, minor downgrade in skill).
