This makes no sense. Pitt should of retained Niskanen and traded Letang. If Pitt really want to trade with Mtl, they are asking for Subban, which should be a non starter.

Bad for both sides. Subban is to expensive for Pitt, and not necessary due to our D pool. And I don't quite agree with the Niskanen part. Niskanen is over valued and not nearly worth the money he got. Even if we always planned on trading Letang, letting Nisky walk was the right move.

Why the hell would GMJR trade a Norris caliber defenseman to a conference rival who already has a Norris winning defenseman? Just makes zero sense.

Trading Letang now would make the least sense from a value standpoint. Unless Montreal is giving a top 6 forward and a top 4 defenseman, which they're not, it makes no sense for Pitt.

Let tanger put up close to a point a game this season and move him to the west in the offseason if you're set on trading him.

Let's try and be objective for a second...let's assume Subban and Letang (healthy) are just about equal.

Subban probably wants more than what Letang is being paid...right?

The Penguins...probably wish Letang was being paid less.

Swapping them really doesn't make sense for Pitt...but Letang could make sense in Montreal if the Canadiens view him as stated above (equal to Subban).

Pitt could move Letang...for lesser D? and a lesser forward? But looking at Mtl....I see only Bourque and Emelin fitting that situation.

Mtl would then have to trade Subban's rights for forward help...right? With who?

Letang's trade value last year is the same as Subbans. There is no reason to think his health is any cause for concern at this point. It's not some un-cureable disease, its a stroke. While that is severe, the chances of it happening again are about as good as you and I both being struck by the same bolt of lightning (according to the doctors, that is).

Point is - Letang still has more value than Pacioretty. I just don't think it makes sense for MTL from an on-ice perspective. But I'm happy with Pacioretty and Beaulieu for Letang and a 3rd.

if you take the least likely teams to make a deal and take a deal that makes the least amount of sense... and you multiply it by 10ox.... you'll get a Montreal/Pittsburgh trade involving letang.

1. Letang doesnt seem to like the spotlight and pressure... so you trade him to Montreal?
2. Montreal has a dynamic dman already... his name is PK Subban
3. If Montreal was looking to move Subban because they think he will be asking for too much... Pittsburgh cant afford him either.
