Letang is not as good as you think..
- OilerFan16

He's a fan of the Penguins and he will fight (angrily it appears) tooth and nail until we,the world, ordain all Penguins players as the best in their craft.
Ltang may be better than all Oilers defenders, but no way is he a better hockey player, or more valuable to any team as Taylor Hall....and within 3-5 years there will probably be another 4 or 5 players to add to list.

Taylor Hall. 30 GM's would not trade Hall for Letang.
- Jeropotato

30 GM's wouldn't trade Hall for Letang, but 30 GM's would trade Letang if they are getting Hall in return.

Letang has yet to have an NHL coach actually coach him. He will thrive when he is coached and given the opportunities he needs to succeed.

7.5 Million will seem like a bargain soon.

- SuperHenderson13

Now your making excuses.....how would you know if you never watched him play for an NHL coach.....plus are you not at all concerned that his health may factor in to his on ice play at some point?

so habs fans want Letang, but don't wanna part with Subban, Pacioretty,Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Beaulieu, Tinordi, or pretty much anyone of value.

Eller and a 2nd is not gonna get it done

- GardinerExpress

We do?

Not a knock on Letang at all but the last things the Habs need is another offensive minded d-man with a large cap hit. This rumor makes no sense, just saying...

forgot about Suter, I'll give you that one. I never said he would be on Chicago, just pointing out you listed them twice.

Kronwall? Maybe 3-4 years ago.
Hedman? Big Buff? Dion? Giordano? OEL?

- SuperHenderson13

Hedman played incredible down the stretch and was arguably one of the top 10 d-men in the league. Giordano is quite underrated because of the team he plays on. He played amazing last season.

I think there is a pretty good case for OEL as well.

Don't get me wrong he's a great player but in no way is he better than Hall. I wouldn't blame coaching here either. What if Taylor hall had a good coach from the start?

I'd agree. They're quite comparable really.

I'd also add Vlasic to the initial list. And while Hamhuis certainly doesn't have the offensive upside that Letang brings, I feel that he's more reliable in the defensive zone. Vlasic, Hamhuis and Giordano all get very little respect for what they bring to their teams.

no i'm not. doctors are not therefore i am not. simple as that.

not making excuses for anything or anyone. he wasnt a norris candidate two years ago by accident. he would have been this season if not for his injury.

it's easy to single a guy out for playoff failure when the whole team struggled.

im excited to see him this season under new coaching and new management.

no sorry, i just dont take the opinions of opposing fans seriously when they see the guy play less than a dozen times a season.

if you'd rather have Hedman than Letang, that's fine. but give me the more talented guy any day of the week.

No. Dion is better.

If Letang was on Toronto, we'd hear more about him being the most overpaid D-Man in the NHL.

- RogerRoeper

Dion is better...

Of course he is roger.

So what does that say about your opinions on OEL & Giordano ? you mean to tell me you watched the Flames?

look at the previous comments, a lot seem to want him without giving up anything.
Habs would have to trade Pacioretty, Galchenyuk+, or Gallagher ++.
I agree, doesnt make sense for the habs, just like 95% of the leafs rumors that bring the trolls out blasting fans for wanting "everyone"

Detroit has no better dman than Letang... as does Winnipeg, Minnesota, (you listed Chicago twice), Tampa, Toronto, Calgary, Arizona.

please. it's one thing not to like him, it's a whole other thing to be completely blinded by your hate.

- SuperHenderson13

Suter is better than Letang, as is OEL. I'd also take Hedman is well

With the amount of top 3 picks Edmonton gets...I would hope so! If Edmonton can't at least make the playoffs this year, the hockey gods should move them to Louisiana or force that terrible ownership out.

Are we comparing Taylor Hall to Letang... Come on now

Both players mean different things to their respective teams. Silly to even gauge Letangs value right now as he a label over a stroke which IMO means he will be a Pen easily for at least this season.

If both players were healthy all the time it would be tough to gauge who'd be worth more... Hall does have his own share of injuries though.

I guess that also means he watches the oilers extensively since he could say with absolute certainty that Letang was better than any Oiler.
