I agree that for the last few years of darcys reign that the sabres started to go in a different direction. Not sure how much was darcy and how much was devine. I feel like we now have the advantage of another gm with no ties to those players to objectively evaluate and move forward. - rover16
I think it will be interesting to see how many of "Darcy's guys" get moved. Starting next year we will have to trade prospects or players. There will be a ton of guys pushing for spots
McCabe
Ristolainen
Catenacci
Carrier
Grigorenko
Reinhart
2015 1st
Armia
All these guys will be pushing come 2015 |

Yup. Hell we could have 2 NHL ready prospects after that draft (Not likely IMO but possible) |

Man it would be such a bummer If we finished last and ended up with the 3rd pick after the lottery |

O ok. I was worried that they changed that. Not sure if we could boast about our teams future without 1 of the 2. |

I think Murray has done a lot for the short time he has been a gm. This is the biggest offseason buffalo has had in 20 years. - joshs
Spot on. I'm not sure how someone can say that GMTM has done nothing going yet. He has played the cards masterfully so far. Miller didn't want to stay, fine maximize the return. Oct has value at.trade deadline...fine trade the asset, no matter that he is your Captain. Plucks the projected best center .in the draft, then gets a.first round talent in the 2nd...nicely done. Signs character veterans to show the way to the youngins, perfect. Trades for a steady D-day to mentor the young D coming up...solid. uses his assets to trade for young, fearless, tough to play against prospects to create excellent competition in the A ... brilliant.
All in less than 6 months.
Yes it was Darcy' s plan ...did we have faith he could execute the plan...hell no.
GMTM ' s execution still needs to show results..but it looks good so far. |

Yeah with 1 of the above we might have a real powerhouse of a team down the road. We could be battling with Colorado, Florida, Edmonton and Dallas.
I see all those teams potentially being very good in a few seasons, some being good now |

Glad he's gone. However Murray could still be worse. There are no results to judge.
Murray has the benefit of no expectations for his first year or 2 - sbroads24
I dont have a crystal ball. But i would bet theres no way Darcy gets the FA's Murray got to sign here this summer. He couldnt get guys to sign here when we still had members of the core left. However, i agree with everyone here that winning is what matters and we havent done much of that yet...

Toronto is a cool city and their fans love hockey but man living in paradise and being on a good team would be a hard thing to pass up.
**edit** I get the joke. Some Toronto fans sheesh! |

We got Leino and Ehrhoff, convinced Regehr to come.
Again, I like Murray, and wanted Darcy gone. But it's another example of historical revisionism that Buffalo fans have.
All because Murray was able to sign a few vets on the 30th place team, history changes from "Darcy gave FA's horrible contracts" to "Darcy couldn't get anyone to come here" |

The one thing Darcy was good at was acquiring talent. He just never fully had the luxury of a couple years of no expectations to see it through.
Lets not kid ourselves, the prospect pool that many of us have been raving about before this draft....was the talent Darcy accumulated - sbroads24
Thats very true but 5 of the prospects im most excited about, in no order, are carrier fasching deslaureier(as a 3rd/4th line beast) reinhart and lemiuex. All.murray guys, and this could just be because they're new and shiny |

At the time I loved that offseason. We only made 1 free agent signing but Darcy to convince Erhoff to come here, Leino and regher. I liked Darcy. I bet he would have made similar trades at deadline. Don't think he could have gotten the same free agents as Murray did. |

Agreed. Darcy needed to go for us to regain credibility. |
