I think the Devils will be better because they lost Brodeur and Volchenkov, allowing Schneider and Gelinas to play more. Cammalleri's not an overly popular guy, but he can provide offense. I think Hartnell instead of Umberger improves the Jackets & he could have a good year with Johansen.

I think the Pens are still the best regular season team in the division, and I think Hornqvist can come close to replacing Neal's production. They still have holes, but they're still very talented.

The Caps are an absolute crapshoot to me. I think they'll either be really good or terrible. I'm OK with the Niskanen addition, really like Trotz for them, but I hate the Orpik deal.

I feel the division is very fluid and wouldn't be surprised at anything, outside of Pittsburgh missing the playoffs.

It's too much money and too many years for a declining, limited guy. He did face a lot of quality competition in Pittsburgh, but he's getting paid to be a top four, shutdown guy and I don't think he's capable of being that at this stage of his career.

He's making twice as much cash as Karl Alzner, who is better in the role they signed Orpik to play. His physical style is not usually one that leads to a player aging well, and he's already showing signs of decline.

Don't forget the Islanders. Grabovski and Kulimen are nice gets but most importantly Halek will be a massive upgrade. Islanders had AHL quality goaltending last year.

I think Pittsburgh first and Carolina last are pretty good bets. In between them, its a crap shoot.

Yeah, a healthy Tavares and the additions will make them better. Agreed on the Pens and Canes prediction, as well as the uncertainty between,

Pretty much.

I think the Pens and Rangers are likely in, and then its a dog fight between everyone else cept Carolina who is a near lock for 8th.

I do think that 5 teams from the Metro make the playoffs this year.

I don't think the Rangers are a sure thing either. They've sort of done what the Flyers did and made lateral moves. I think they could be anywhere from 2nd in the division to 6th.

I agree. It was a close race between Washington and New Jersey and I think both got marginally better.

Detroit may be on the outside looking in

Maybe, but they still have Hank and their top 3 on D is the class of the division, IMO

Pens are due for a fall... Isles due for a PO appearance.
