That's fine. What is is about AMac's defensive game that is better than Carle's, without citing specific instances?
- jmatchett383

Just my opinion.

He is a more intelligent player
Better skater
Better positioning
Better shot blocker
Has more composure with the puck.

Personally, I like Amac's positioning and ability to read a puck better. I'd always get frustrated with how Carle would get beat by a cutter to the net, the way he was unaware of what was going on around him half the time... I'm not saying Amac is a defensive genius, but I personally believe he does these things better than Carle.

You are the GM of an MLB team today. For first base, you have to take either Ryan Howard or Albert Pujols. Who do you choose, and how do you convince your team owner and pay check signer to go along with it?
- jmatchett383

Pujols. Howard's decline has been worse than Poo-holes' decline, IMO.

I feel like Pujols' decline is partly due to changing leagues. I have far more confidence in Pujols being a productive ML hitter (even in decline) than I do of Ryan Howard being a productive ML hitter.

Damn right. Throw that win now, and make the playoffs at all cost BS out the window. Hextall:

NJ.com: The organization was criticized a lot in the past for trading so many draft picks. Now your farm system seems to be as strong as its been in a lot of years, especially with all those touted defenseman prospects in the loop – Samuel Morin, Shayne Gostisbehere, Travis Sanheim and Robert Hagg. You’ve said that your totally against sacrificing the future in deals. Can you see yourself ever moving a top prospect to make the big team better?

Hextall: “If we get to a point where I think I can put us in the top five or six teams, yeah, we'll look at a deal like that. But I'm not going to do anything that jeopardizes the future of this franchise. There's going to be today, tomorrow and five years from now. It’s a calculated risk, but the risk-reward has got to be there to make one of those deals. I just envision it as we're going to get better every year and we're going to build this to where we've got a seven-to-eight year window where we've got a chance at winning (the Stanley Cup). We all know that if you have a five-, six-, seven-, eight-year window and you win one or two (Cups), you're pretty damn happy because a lot of things happen. There's a lot of parity in the league. When you get goaltending on both sides, when your top players don't play their best, when you get a couple of injuries … there are so many intangibles in the playoffs that come into play that you can't just sit and say, ‘We're going to build for a one- or two-year run’ or ‘we're going to sell the farm to try to win this year.’ There are two many things that can come into play that can go against you at this point. It was different years ago. But with the cap, it's a very balanced league.”

As long as he sticks to the apparent plan its all good. Whether that's true remains to be seen as the man who previously held the job answered well, but his actions didn't always reflect.

I trust hextall. For now.

Never really had a chance to watch him in his early years. Moved to Can in '97, casually watching NHL at that time. More into Flyers as the years moved on.

My glory year/years is that 04 run.

I just read this short little article:

I like the last line, "No explanation for this beyond the fact that its Ron Hextall. What a great nostalgic video. "

I just love how calm he looks after the slash. He doesn't freak out and start throwing punches or anything. Just kinda stands there like, "Yeah, I did that; what now? I mean, if you're not gonna call anything..."
