I definitely think maxis patches is a top 5 LW but benn and hall are 1/2. Benn was voted 1st line LW this year for a reason, i think he bring a much better overall game.
JB .79 ppg career (playing with trash his whole career until this year)
MP .67 ppg career

Like I said, not trashing MP but benn is the best LW right now with hall a 1B.

I really like Benn and Hall but I'd take Hall over Benn

Miller and Cuthbert will be play by play and color likely MJ or someone like that....unlikely Ferraro makes the trip east very often.

i think 70 is too much.

i think 20-30 for 50pts is a pretty realistic expectation if he gets steady top six minutes and some PP time.

I know Toronto is not allowed to have anything good said about them, but JvR at 4.25 is pretty sweet.

The Ottawa financials are starting to look absolutely incredible to the outside investor. Payroll sits around $52m and includes a deep pool of young talent on solid contracts and some great prospects in their system. Read where every team is getting $5m from the distribution of last year's stadium series monies (revenues distributed and counted against this year). Also, Ottawa gets up to $30m on their new Regional TV deal with TSN. They get somewhere in the range of $18m from their share of the national TV deals.

With the new TV deal and despite a slowdown in ticket sales Ottawa will likely show team HRR in excess of $135m, including their share of incoming NHL national revenues. Based on that kind of revenue flow, a sale price of $400m for the team, all its related businesses as well as the buildings and other property holdings would be a very good deal for a buyer. Melnyk bought the team for $92m just 11 years ago (August 26, 2003). Time for Eugene to let it go.

Note: seen other estimates that suggest the combined tV deals is more in the $42m range rather than the $48m I estimated.

Some players have decided they want to sign no trade contracts in order to avoid the pressure of playing in Canadian markets. This is ludicrous and cannot last. Remember, it is the entertainment business.

NBC paid $2b for a 10 year deal for NHL broadcast rights. It works out to $6.6m per NHL team when prorated over the length of the contract.

Rogers paid $5.2b for a 12 year Canadian deal. It works out to $14.43 per team over the term of the deal.

But Canadian broadcasters, sponsors and viewers are getting shafted when players refuse to accept playing in Canadian markets. If, for example, US broadcast revenues stayed in the US for the "exclusive" benefit of teams in US markets, each of the 23 US based teams would receive $8.69m. If, at the same time, national broadcast revenues generated in Canada were shared "only" by the Canadian teams, each team would receive $61.6m.

I believe both Rogers and Bell Media are fully aware of the insanity of the ongoing situation. Player agents are going to be educated on the distortion.

I have thought about this same idea for ahwile and hope you are right here, seems odd that we kind of support the league in the north yet we are not treated to the best players in the game helping out our teams. I wonder if the money element was removed would more big name stars want to come play where hockey is number one. Seems to be the case in every other sport except hockey. The only thing i can figure is they care more about the money at the end of the day than the legacy....whereas other sports tend to have pretty even money and taxation across the board (due to lack of Canadian franchises) and seem to have no problem drawing the biggest players to the biggest markets on the reg.

By best all around player do you mean best player that's okay at everything or you think he's the most valuable player to the team?

I don't necessarily disagree with this. A majority of the players in the NHL would rather lay low in the states rather than be in the spotlight in Canada. However, Canadian teams have to start drafting the top players. They will play here given the opportunity.

Very bold prediction. I think more realistic is 60 points; with great 2-way play. But hey, like I said, I can't predict well lol

Victor Hedman is turning into an elite Dman. I don't put him in the upper 5-7 (Weber, Doughty, Keith, Subban, Karlsson, Chara) but I'd put him right after that. Him Pietrangelo, OEL, Kronwall their all in that group. Although EK65 may have fallen to this group based on his defensive play this year

Ryan needs to be signed .....

Silfverberg signed today to a 1 year deal in Anaheim....

Going back knowing what you know, would you still do the trade?

I'd do the trade all the live long day. Adding Ryan filled a void in our lineup. We have been seeking a dynamic winger like Ryan since the departure of Heatley. To me it was worth giving up decent pieces for a proven player. Especially where we were this time last summer. If we can sign him long term is a huge bonus.
