His 7-to-1 penalties drawn/taken ratio given limited ice time move him from a D to a C-. |

I went C+ only because of that goal against Anaheim in the playoffs. He's good for the most part, but he should have more points, IMO. He seems to get open a lot. |

good write up, as usual. I gave him a C- just because he failed to improve his stale numbers ...again. I also feel like his next season is always going to be somewhat of a break out season for him. He has good moves, he hustles but he just doesnt score. I like him though and he is a solid fourth line guy I just want him to (some what) live up to his 17 overall pick expectations. I probably would not be happy to see the players that went #18 pick and beyond. |

I'll go with C-... I would love to put him at a C+, to me he should be worth 10G/15+A but playing mostly 4th line duties I can see where those numbers aren't likely. Love his faceoff strength and PK ability though. |

Yea that number was pretty surprising to me as well. Along with the fact that he has the most defensive zone starts on the team. |

I have to go with B just because he babysits doughty. I think thats what his agents arguments were when he was asking for a raise.
"Look if you don't want trevor to tell drew what time we play everyday than he will go to Montreal and buy a puppy for Subban." |

Penalty killers and grinders don't get enough respect.
Remember Stephane Yelle? Heh, most people might not. Like Lewis, Yelle quietly removed opportunities, slowed or broke momentum and dug for the puck in the corners.
Nothing sexy about these kind of players but way under-appreciated.
We can't really measure it but these types of guys prevent plays and/or goals. In a way, they are priceless, yet, paid a lot less than the flashy players.
Most important though, Lewis has hoisted the cup. He will likely always be overshadowed by the immense talent on the rest of the team, but, he's a winner.
Good article, keep it up.

Stephane Yelle...yes, good point. Lewis, however, is only potting about half the points that Yelle did.
Lewis is a great defensive player, no doubt about it. Would like to see him hit 20 points for a season though. That would be a great contribution from him in addition to all the other things he does |

Meh, Lewis' downside are his hands.
But it's not like that was a shocker.
Would I like him to score more? Sure, I'd like everyone to score more.
But given his line and his hands, not going to happen.
So with that said, dude's presence is his defensive abilities, and he's great at what he does. Most of the time, I do not worry when he is out on the ice on the PK. I know he will do his part.
So with that said, my expectations of him are and have always been to be a defensive forward.
And for that, he did his job well.
