Not sure if anyone has touched on this, but did you all hear the rumor that the Leafs were offered the 21st, 33rd and 52nd pick for their 8th overall pick at the 2014 draft. The picks ended up being: #21 (Fabbri), #33 (Barbashev) & #52 (Letunov) for #8 (Nylander).
Retrospectively, do you take that deal or still draft Nylander?
Going to copy this over to Augello's thread too.. |

I heard that id be very temped to take that offer since i think Fabbri and Barbshev have a good chance to be NHLer's But Nylander's hockey IQ is just so high I can see why they drafted him.
Edit I think Nylander will put up numbers comparable to Ray Whitney |

I think I'd stand pat and keep Nylander, but that offer peaked my interest.

No consideration whatsoever eh?
I like Nylander a lot, but I think it definitely deserves something more than a 100% pass. |

No because there is 90% chance they don't pick any of those players. |

The leafs severely lack any blue chip prospects with top 6 potential.
late 1st rounders do not get you those... enough with the Biggs and Gauthiers that might one day work out..
maybe if the leafs were a deep prospect team you think about it |

You said they lack top six prospects yet only say Biggs? If you read the Blog he isnt in the top 5 and the top 5 are top 6 prospects. |

You're a real wiener cocaine fiend, you know my love for Barbashev...
even so, it probably wouldn't have been the smartest move. They really need to hit it out of the park with a forward and Nylander/Fiala/Ehlers were probably the best bet at 8. |

Why would one of the options with Nylander be 2 years with the steelheads in the O?? Why is it 2?? If they decide to send him to the OHL this year (can't see why they would) he doesn't have to spend 2 years there. - burn
Nonis saying today that Nylander to OHL doesn't make a lot of sense. |
