Edit: they traded lower picks and moved up not trade down. So ya they dont trade down.

I originally thought that Sweden was the best option for Nylander. I still think that's where he ends up as it won't burn a year off his RFA period.

But if the kid shows well on N.A. ice during training camp then they should probably keep him in the AHL. With the inevitable injuries to Lupul and Booth, and the uncertainties of Frattin and Leivo it would be good to keep the kid close to the A.C.C.

And while poor in execution on this one, in theory, I'd much rather they be combining picks to trade up, than getting more picks for trading down. In the early rounds, anyway. Past the second round, I'd rather have two fourths than a third. Two fifths than a fourth. etc. etc.

I don't mind a miss on the trade. Would I rather have Boone Jenner and John Gibson? Yeah. But at least Burke was willing to be proactive in trading up for a player he wanted. I hope Nonis has learned to be certain the player he's trading up for is a hit. As sure as you can be, at least.

There's more. It was 1997 and he and myself were at the ACC watching the Blues face the Leafs. It was 2 - 2 very late in the game and looked to be heading to overtime when MacInnis let a shot go from just inside center ice at 19:57 and he scored on Potvin to make it 3-2 for the win. He of course was the only guy in the rink with a Blues jersey on and all he did was stand up, hands raised and did a couple 360's to make sure everyone around saw him...he didn't say a word. Bastard!
