You don't get drafted, or play professional hockey at any level without having talent. Rinaldo was just re-signed by an NHL team to a 2 year contract. Saying he doesn't have any talent is just hyperbole.
Oliver Laurdisen is signed to a one way contract this year, and has made 2.5M bucks to this point playing professional Hockey. Not bad for a player with no talent.

You take things (completely) too literally.

It's assumed that he's speaking in relative terms -- as in relation to the average NHL player, not in relation to a person who doesn't know what to do w/ a hockey stick.

That's a really nice spin, but the statement made was pure hyperbole, not to mention completely inaccurate.

It's really simple. You don't play professional hockey if you have no talent.

How's life folks?

I'm currently sitting on our mini 3rd story deck overlooking beautiful West Philly with the skyline glowing on the horizon 2 miles east, smoking a cigar, drinking a jack and coke, and listening to the Beatles.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure in my statement, and I disagree with you. It's pretty cut and dry.

Exactly. Obviously Oliver Lauridsen would likely school 99% of us in a game of hockey, but relative to the average NHLer, he'd fall short talent wise.

Same goes for Klotz and Mathers, one who obviously never even made the NHL, who were drafted primarily for their pugilistic abilities, rather than hockey playing ability. Rinaldo's been beat to death and I have no interest in re-opening that.

This is why I ignore him, he's always spoiling for a fight over any topic. I'm not going to rise to the bait, when any normal, reasonable person can perfectly understand my post.

I'm watching a football game, enjoying a beer and avoiding both updating my resume and typing a letter to my kid's teacher.

The context of the conversation wasn't comparing talent levels between fringe players and the average NHL player. The players were named in rebuttal to a post that said players that the Flyers draft have some talent. Nor was the context of the post comparing professional hockey players to people who are not professional hockey players.
I understood your post, I just offered an opinion on it. Now it's trying to be walked back.

That is in a completely different context and situation. And obviously isn't being used in the context of whether drafted players have any talent, in a serious discussion.
