Don't worry I don't think he's posted a single comment without mentioning cleary in about 6 months
Personally (mantha is obvious) I'm excited to see what athanasiou can do....his combination of speed and skill seems like it could transpire into lots of fun goal to watch in the future - HomestyleMelt
Yeah I'm also pretty stoked to see what Larkin does in Michigan. I know he's young and won't be around for a long time but I think that kid is going to be great. |

this alllllll goes back to the great kenny holland.
Kenny is a can do no wrong guy to many wings fans. (not saying anyone on this blog). hes not the best gm in hockey. is he amongst the best? maybe.
he hasnt made moves to help this team where it needs it the most. on defense.
its the same group that struggled mightily last season. hes lucky nyquist came to the rescue last season because his panic move for Legwand blew up in his face and cost the wings a damn good prospect.
he needs to grow a pair and make a trade or two to help the team. |

and there it is....waaahhhhhh.
thought you didnt care about what we had to say at all???
WE GOT IT!!!! this is exactly my point, i dont think theres a perfect GM out there whos never made a mistake, bad deal, wrong draft pick or always signs the right players for the perfect amount of money
WE ALL agree that we didnt want cleary and i didnt like legwand but at the time, we didnt know it was going to be AS bad as it ended up. Just move on, talk about the positives, you guys just harp and harp and harp on the SAME crap.. |

I also agree Larkin should be interesting to keep an eye on...maybe
Pulkinen, Larkin, mantha? One day? Lol the only thing I will complain about is if Anderson makes 4th line C (which I think he should) lol that's...18 lefties lol....god those 2 on 1s are annoying to watch with all lefties |

Honestly I know people are high on pulkinen but if I had to put money on it... I don't think he'll ever be a full time red wing.

Not sure how you couldn't see it wasn't going to be good. Cleary looked like crap all season long 2 years ago and only looked somewhat decent in the playoffs. Given how he played all of last season again he's a very long shot to be productive and more of a high risk low reward type of move yet again.
Legwand as a player wasn't the problem. Problem was that everyone knew given the Wings depth at center when healthy that he had no future what so ever with the Wings. He was a band aid and very obvious right when it happened that he was a very costly one at that. Those assets could have been used for a player with a future with the Wings that filled a long term need like a top 4 defenseman to replace Quincey, a top 6 scorer or maybe even part of a package for that power forward they have been lacking since Shanahan left. This was another high risk low reward move from the start.
Holland has made a lot of those types of moves the last few years with those guys along with Sammy, Gus, Quincey, Williams just to name a few. Given how good their farm system is, making high risk low reward moves seems pretty stupid when all they do is block those good prospects from getting longer looks. Wings shouldn't need a bunch of injuries to be able to play NHL ready prospects or to get good looks at players that are close and will be out of waiver options very soon. |

I miss Shanahan. Closest thing we have had to a power forward is Franzen and he is not really one at all.
Edit: Danny signed a 2 year contract for 2.125 million a year. He will be a rfa at the end of the contract. |

That is one thing I can praise Holland for...getting RFAs signed for cheaper than they probably should be paid.
Holland would probably call Franzen a power forward but I wouldn't. To me a power forward has to be able to drop the gloves and play a physical style of play along with the offense. |

Holland isn't a bad gm. I think he's just past his time nowadays.
And I wish Franzen used the size he has. It'd them be a good excuse for the injuries he constantly gets. |

He gets injured a lot because he runs his mouth on the ice and the players all know he's a cream puff that won't actually back up his mouth. |

If Datsyuk will fight Perry and Zeke is fighting Malkin, that buffoon can throw gloves once in a while. Even Smith was ready to square up with Chara it looked like. |

Down 4 to 2 now. - YzermanIsTheMan
4-3....goaltending hasn't been really good aside from last game for the Wings prospects. Low shot count in almost every game yet they get scored on a lot. Some of it could be the young defense too. |

Well. Coreau and Paterson are probably never going to make the nhl. They are more backup AHL goalies. Never really liked the look of either. |
