God I hate ESPN so much.

I hope Blashill does as he has mentioned he could and keeps that Frk - Nosek - Mantha line together for a while in Grand Rapids. They seem to work well together and would give the Griffins a couple of dangerous offensive lines when adding Pulkkinen, Jurco, Athanasiou, Nestrasil and maybe Callahan along with some of the vets like Porter and Miele.


Looking forward to watching some of the Griffins games this year. They should have a solid team again if the Wings don't get hit with a tonne of injuries again to deplete their farm team.

Is mantha eligible to play in the A this year ? I thought he would still have to play jr but don't know

Looks like Blashill is changing up the lines for tonight with Mantha playing with Athanasiou and Bertuzzi while Frk stays with Nosek and now with Campbell

Progress with DeKeyser

Holland said he believes he is closer to a deal with defenseman Danny DeKeyser. He'll talk to his agent again on Tuesday in hopes of signing him before he's scheduled to leave for training camp on Wednesday.

DeKeyser, who has been skating with teammates for several weeks, remains confident he'll have a new contract before the Red Wings hit the ice in Traverse City on Friday.

"I'm kind of anxious," DeKeyser said Monday. "Hopefully something gets done here soon with camp a few days away."

DeKeyser, a restricted free agent, said he can't go to camp if he doesn't have a contract.

Holland said last week that neither side was receptive to a one-year deal, but he and DeKeyser haven't ruled out anything.

"I think pretty much all options are open," DeKeyser said.

He's turning 20 very soon and will be playing pro this year either with the Wings or Grand Rapids...he is done with juniors and really has nothing left to gain or prove by playing there.

I doubt Rome will get a contract. Only guy he would have any chance to beat on a one way deal is Lashoff and we all know Babcock has a love affair for him so it's not going to happen.

I wish but Babcock already said Cleary will be on the roster. I also wish that Glendening and Lashoff would end up in Grand Rapids or picked up on waivers.

Unfortunately there never seems to be a good wings chat going it's always something miserable about cleary or holland. You would think it was an oilers article.

I'll move on when the Wings smarten up and do the same with these useless players. Not icing the best team possible just to keep some washed up players or fringe NHLers makes no sense. Cleary being on the roster no matter what before even having camp makes Holland and especially Babcock look stupid. It also pretty much confirms that no matter how the prospects play (even if they not only outplay those useless players but almost everyone else) their only hope to even have a chance at starting the season in Detroit is injuries. You might be ok with this but I am not.

Talking about Cleary is also relevant again since they just basically confirmed that he will be on the roster no matter how he plays in camp and pre-season...he doesn't even have to earn a spot.

Seems like every line that Mantha is put on has a great game which is good to see. I never really hated the Bertuzzi pick although picking him in the 2nd round was a bit baffling at the time. Hopefully he can step up his game even more in his last season in the OHL and stay healthy.

Yeah that's basically what I was implying is that I was surprised that's when they took him considering it didn't seem like he would have been taken any time soon after

I mean, in the end were all wings fans, so im here to talk hockey during the off season with other wings fans, I get that you guys are upset over cleary, i didnt want him signed either, but its over, all im saying is weve had our grieving time. lets move on and look forward to the next season, talking about prospects is GREAT!

Don't worry I don't think he's posted a single comment without mentioning cleary in about 6 months

Personally (mantha is obvious) I'm excited to see what athanasiou can do....his combination of speed and skill seems like it could transpire into lots of fun goal to watch in the future
